So, people think Cs lost Vs NYK beacause of Rondo??? ???

I wouldn't put it like that;  I wouldn't say that we lost because of Rondo, but I would say that we would have a much better chance at winning if we had him.

Much better?? You remember last game when Rondo played Vs Hawks? Dont you?! ...
Last second of 3qrt Cs had the lead 70-63...This one has no connection with Rondo. Is not fair to connect every lost game with Rondos absence.

Most people can spot the fairly obvious connection between a team missing it's point guard and that team having trouble executing on offense.

This point guard lead the team to 20-23 score during regular season...So under .500 score. I do not know how "important" can be a point guard like this for the team...Please

I remember that game.  We actually had a 27 point lead midway through the second quarter and a 19 point lead at halftime before completely sleepwalking our way through the second half and giving the game away.

Strange things happen during the course of the 82 game preseason, but based on past playoff performances, I would say that having a guy who has consistently performed as well as Rajon Rondo would be helpful once the games really start to matter.

Like I said, though, I'm counting on Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Jeff Green, Avery Bradley, Brandon Bass, and the rest of the cast to be able to lead us past the Knicks, even without our star point guard.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Great argument, especially if you've never seen the team play before this year (especially in the playoffs) and are unaware of many of the reasons that the team was struggling early in the season.

Pretty much. I know this is a fairly nebulous idea, but there's leagues of difference between Regular Season, pad-my-stats-and-make-the-hardest-possible-pass-to-keep-myself-entertained Rondo (who I can take or leave, depending on the night) and has-the-potential-to-be-the-best-player-on-the-floor-with-no-exceptions Playoff Rondo.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

If it's not fair to connect every post-Rondo loss to his absence, then it's not fair to connect every pre-injury loss to his presence.

When Rondo went down, a lot of people thought the greatest impact would be in the playoffs, when the game slows down and defense is at its best.  We really felt that absence in the 2nd half when we struggled to make plays on offense.

The team was crying out for a simple pick and roll from Rondo to create an open jump shot without having to work for 20 seconds or make a dangerous pass.

I miss Ray and Sullinger more.

Rondo is useless.

We need a big who can rebound and another shooter - NOT Rondo.

I'm almost confident you weren't saying Rondo was useless this time last yr in the playoffs. I can see missing Ray, because he's doing quite fine in Miami, but Sullinger has no experience in the playoffs and at the rate he fouls (depending on how tight they call the game and his Rookie treatment)he'd be fouled out by the half.

Some of those losses he didn't even play in,but I'm not going to get into that. If you honestly think the offense wouldn't have run a lot better with Rondo at the point instead of AB, that's your opinion.

Losing Rondo is going to hurt the most in the playoffs.

As currently constituted, I think Rondo is the only one on our team that has the potential to go into a 7 game series and out play the likes of Rose, Melo, Lebron.

Im not saying rondo would outplay and of those players, but I know that he can.  I don't think Pierce or KG are up to it anymore.

Because, as everyone knows, teams with players who dominate games and play like superstars never win in the playoffs, it's the teams with (relatively) solid role players who do the most damage.

sed522022,

I have been saying Rondo is useless for several years - when the big 3 first formed.

My opinion hasn't changed.  It is interesting that as Rondo has taken on a bigger role, the Celtics has gotten worse over time.

I'm sure age and supporting cast have absolutely nothing to do with that. ::) The last game rebounding wasn't the issue (36 Boston, 40 NYK)I think...they couldn't generate offense, and one of the main reasons KG looked like he found the fountain of youth last yr was because him and Rondo was a great duo with the easy looks he was getting.

Rondo has taken on a bigger role and our vets have gotten older and our bench has gotten worse.

Fair enough that you've been saying Rondo has been useless for years even though I disagree entirely, but to put out a statement like "Rondo has taken on a bigger role and we've gotten worse" without acknowledging the other major shifts is pointless and misleading.
