Shav may be banged up a little.   He was playing his heart out and taking a right fair amount of punishment.

I didn't see the game , but wondered why Shav didn't have a pile of stats against the woeful Magic.

I hope Glenn doesn't screw up and not use Shav against the Knicks ,   we need his rebounding and energy in the paint.

Easy to get into the Doc House... ;)

Unless you are an old vet named Jason.  Then you can play and play and play.  Even if your play is mediocre on a good day.

Danny needs to not bring back Collins.  He can teach Doc a lesson.

Here we go again...Doc's little brain slipped a gear again.....Shav was doing all the dirty  work, and was so good at it, he made bass work harder..you notice how Bass has been rebounding more and scoring inside, or trying.....threaten a mans minutes, and watch him play...doc has always benched the guys who try to dig it out for us....look how he broke Steamer's confidence......!!!

Exactly what I said in the game forum.

what mistake did he did, when i saw the mins played i feared he was hurt..hes been getting at least 15 mins per game.

Fouled someone

Lol. Doc Logic. Hahaha

I feel bad for Shav, he's been playing his butt off every time his number is called. And he gets benched for fouling 1 time.

I am lost here.i did not see the game, but I have trouble understanding how doc would bench him for a single foul.

It must have been pretty dramatic since shavlik has committed multiple fouls in almost every game he has played as a Celtic. Why didn't doc bench him in those games?
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

You can quote both at the same time.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Because he could see the magic were targeting Shavlick immediately and it was going to get him and the celtics in early foul trouble. They went strait to Nikolai in the low post... doc decided that vucevic should have to guard someone and worry about playing defense on the pick and rolls and back door cuts to the hoop, rather than just get an early offensive groove going.
Turned out to be correct strategy because we were able to do well when vucevic was occupied on the defensive end.
He was also keeping Shavlicks body from the pounding that vucevic would've caused to him. No need to get your back up Center all banged up. I actually believe he'll get meaningful minutes come playoff time, just not against low post scoring threats. He'll be great against New York and Miami when bosh is off.

They weren't targeting Randolph. Going to Vucevic is 90% of their offense.
The Magic are not specifically targeting Shavlik. Lol.
They were just playing to their strength and right now that is Vucevic in the post.

I still think Shavlik should have gotten at least 10 to 15 minutes tonight.

He's in Docs Doghouse.

He's in Docs Doghouse.

Shav was either going to foul Vucevic or get scored on- he had nothing on him.
And they 100% targeted Randolph in the post- he's an inferior 1v1 defender against someone like Vucevic.
He also can't make Vucevic work on the other end like Wilcox can running the pick and roll.
Go watch the tape of the game again if you have league pass and watch the Magic coach Vaughn immediately go to Vucevic against Randolph repeatedly in the low post- the outcome was either a foul or score for the Magic. Another 10 minutes of that and Doc would've looked like an idiot for leaving Shav in there.

It's the same thing that whoever is guarding Green in the playoffs is going to face- lots of inferior second string post defenders that Doc will abuse in the low post.

Doc has been playing Randolph for 12-15 mins per game for the last 10 or so games.

Shav has clearly made it into Doc's rotation at this point and now he is trying to get Shav to learn how to stay on the floor so he isn't a liability and both knocking himself out of games and also putting the C's in the penalty sending a team like the Heat to the foul line far too quickly.

Doc's used this approach before, telling guys if they don't do a certain thing he is going to bench them. He is trying to get through to Shav somehow before the playoffs start so he can actually be serviceable. I don't know if its going to work, but something needs to change for Shav. Yes he is getting "rookie fouls", but that isn't going to change so Shav needs to learn how to work around it.

He made a point to Shav, that if he doesn't manage to get himself under control in terms of fouling he is going to find himself on the bench permanently and also gave Wilcox an extended run.

I have no problem with it. Randolph needs to adjust his game if he wants to stay on the court. Maybe this gets through to him.
