Doc: Jeff Green will be permanent Starter..earned it

my question is, how is the rotation going to look like next year when everyone is healthy, assuming KG and Pierce do not retire

how about Sullinger? is he just going to be a backup pf next year? This kid also proved that he can be a solid starter as well, and Pierce cannot play SG

Obviously you want your best players to play the most minutes in the playoffs, and it's easier to do that with Green starting.  I want Green playing around 40 MPG in the playoffs, and KG and Paul maybe high 30s.

The Celtics have no chance if Doc loosens up his minute restrictions on Garnett.

The Celtics have no chance if KG can't play greater minutes.

Maybe for Games 1-2 of the first and second series, limit him to just 30 minutes?

I feel he can take on 37 again. Depends on how that injury is...

If KG plays anywhere near 37 minutes a game we're going to lose 1-4.  We might win the first game but we'll be cooked the rest of the series.

In the last two years the Celtics have played in 5 playoff series and KG has averaged over 37 MPG in that time. He was instrumental both years in making sure the Celtics won those series and were more than competitive in the ones they lost.

KG at 35-37 MPG will not only happen, it will be the reason we will be competitive in this year's playoffs because without an inside presence the Celtics are toast.

In my opinion, it's just the opposite. When it's a winnable game, he has to throw out his minute-caps and play KG.

Jeff Green is a starter. 

I was calling for us to start Pierce at SG and Green at SF... but if Green can hold his own at PF, you keep it as Bradley, Lee, Pierce, Green and KG. 

Twas inevitable.  He was clearly the 4th best player on the team ... 3rd when Rondo went out.  No reason to bring him off the bench.

Heard on the radio yesterday that Green told Doc at the start of the season that he could only go for 4-minute stretches.  We was nowhere near the player earlier in the season that he is now.

Jeff Green may not be the best rebounder, he may not be a good rebounder, but you put him on the Celtics and you are most likely not going to see better rebounding production.

Prior to joining the Celtics, Jeff Green's career rebounding % was 9.4%.

I know people are screaming that they saw this could work before Doc and that they don't know why Doc didn't see this earlier...

well, if you listened to post game then you would know the reason it took so long. Doc said they tried it a lot but the problem was that earlier in the season Green was not ready DEFENSIVELY!

They wanted this long ago too... Doc said KG going down might be a blessing (for Green). He said that it works with PP and JG together but last night at first they were having trouble stopping Detroit's faster guards, he said they are going to have to work to figure out how to handle that... he says maybe different line-ups depending on those situations. He also said KG could help a lot in those situations.


Now that Green has come into his own and worked himself into basketball shape (got it together defensively) after the surgery and year off, it's made putting him into the starting lineup easier and at this point a no-brainer!

then why not start him in february after his impressive defense on melo and lebron and i believe josh smith was in there too?

im not against starting jeff. i think he needs to get into the game early. i think he could even get 30 minutes and be great as a starter. he just needs the opp to get going early.
