Pierce still battling a sore ankle. Tweaked it again last night. Said he wouldn't be able to play if there was a game unless it was playoff

Boston Celtics ‏@celtics

Quote
Paul Pierce told reporters that if the Celtics had a regular season game today, he probably wouldn't play due to pain in his left ankle/foot

-So is it safe to say he'll be resting a few games or maybe playing with lil Prince at home?

Give him the rest. It really doesnt matter if we stay at the 7th seed or move up to 6th. It'll pretty much be the same route of either knicks or pacers in round one followed by the one of those two that we didnt play in round 2.

Worst case scenario here for the Celtics.

They lost all of their quality depth due to injuries, including their young star.  So they leaned too much on their older stars for so long, and now both have broken down and are heading into the playoffs significantly hobbled / recovering from injuries.

Not to mention that the Cs are depending heavily on a bunch of bench guys who have been with the team just over a month and who haven't picked up the defensive schemes at all yet.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Timed in perfect syncopation with the end of KG's rest.

No need to play the Captain now until maybe a game before the playoffs.

-I agree, they have a couple of games at home (that they should win). Let him rest because we'll need him more in the playoffs.

Calm down, let him rest a bit and see if its still a problem

While you're right that the situation isn't good right now, I don't think its because the C's leaned to hard on KG/Pierce. Both are older players, older players are banged up by season end pretty often no matter how careful you are. You can't wrap them in bubble wrap till its playoff time.

They have a couple of winnable games at home with the Cavs and Wizards. They should be able to rest Pierce.

Seems to me that Shav at least has a passable understanding of the D, and still another half dozen games to go.  If they start Pierce at the two, there shouldn't really be a need to play Crawford or Williams anyway.  And it looks like White will pretty much sit until next season as well.

Whether it's because they leaned on them out of necessity, or just happenstance, the bottom line is they're left without anybody else to really lean on, except I guess Jeff Green.

I imagine Jeff will be playing something like 40 minutes a game in the playoffs (a la Rondo), and guys like Bradley and Bass will be taking way more shots than they really ought to be.

You're missing my point, "leaned on" as far as health goes of guys as old as Pierce/KG means playing NBA minutes. Every NBA player is banged up by the end of the season, and it does not get easier as you age.

Pierce should soak the ankle/foot in hot water and move do some aquatic therapy with his foot/ankle. This should be done daily, even after the ankle is feeling no pain.

Forget icing the ankle unless there is severe swelling or severe pain, applying compression is much more important. Icing is really only helpful, if at all, during the first 24 hours post sprain injury.

PP should also increase protein intake and ingest the ends of chicken bones to eat the cartridge, ligaments and tendon. It sounds gross, but there is nutrients and minerals in there that can help speed healing and make the ankle joint stronger to prevent against sprain recurrence.

i dont see y. i would much rather have bass attempt more shots than anybody on the team. if he can continue to finish at the clip that he's finishing at, then i would be more than happy. bass shot 55% from the field in march, the only person who shot better than him for that month was chris wilcox. bass didnt have a great game against the wolves, but he came back nicely in the pistons game.

I think that's fine.

We need to rest up Paul and KG come playoff time so they'll be fresh for the grind.

Green is playing out of his mind right now, Bass is doing a decent job than before. It's time to play the bench to see what we have so we don't have to guess who comes in and who doesnt when the 1st round starts.

We already clinched the playoffs. We also have already proven that we can win as a lower seed, there's no need to further risk more injury for Paul. Let him rest.
