The only reason I think Bass might be trade-able, is that his contract is only for two seasons after this one. Sure, he's over-paid, but there are always teams that end up needing to fill salary slots with warm bodies.
Basically, the C's are likely going to need to find a team going through a transition period, that would be ok with spending $6m+ on a player to take up a spot on the team until their more ready to compete for real. Also, said team would likely need to be the third team in any such trade. Essentially, we'd be looking to trade for a player through a sign-and-trade, and send Bass to another team. This is where our recently signed Chinese-League players may become useful. Their non-guaranteed salaries for next season might help make numbers match.
The big question would be, what other assets would be required to get this hypothetical third team to take on Bass.
