"Honestly, he's fine," Rivers said. "It's a bone something, a bone spur that just needs to relax and calm down. I think that's what it is. It's his ankle. If we were in the playoffs tonight, Kevin would absolutely be playing."

Are you kidding me with this?  No big deal, it's a "bone something"?  A "bone spur that just needs to relax and calm down"?

Is that a lousy April Fool's joke, or was Doc just being really loose and inconsiderate in his word choice?

A "bone something" is not an insignificant injury for a player who is 36 years old and has the sort of mileage that KG does.  This feels so much like 2009 that I want to hit something.  Why can't this team just be open and direct about the injuries suffered by its players?

For reference, last season Ray Allen had "just a bone something," a "bone spur that needed to relax and calm down."  He was hobbled and off his game throughout the playoffs and needed surgery in the off-season.

I don't get the ire.  Either Kevin Garnett returns in time for the post-season and plays inspired, hall of fame level ball (which I'm sure is what Doc, Danny, and everyone else in the organization is desperately hoping for) or he doesn't.

I don't know what you want them to say?  "Well, it's a bone spur, and we're pretty sure that either he won't return or when he does he won't be able to move at all."

I don't want to hear that.  I'd prefer to keep up the hope along with everybody in the Celtics organization.

Yeah, don't trust doc for a second. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think the KG we get will be 100 percent and I think that's the one we'll need to have any real chance in the playoffs. Or at least extremely close to 100 percent.

I think this season could very well be it for KG. This has bone spurs written all over it. A couple games of playing on it and I can see it swelling up again like ray allen last year.

I don't think Kevin Garnett has been close to 100% for years.  I'll take 80 to 85.  Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

For me, the ire comes from my feeling that the team is insulting our intelligence with this stuff.

No, they don't need to come out and be all "Welp, KG's ankle is hurt and he might have a bone spur.  We're screwed, guys."

But trying to sugar coat or obfuscate the true nature of things just makes me feel like they're stringing us along or they think we're too dumb to notice they aren't being 100% truthful.

A bone spur? Just like Ray last year and Kobe, eh...
Tough it up, I think he'll make one last run this year.

Based on what we've heard I think KG will play again during the playoffs this year, but I'm expecting him to be playing at roughly 60-75%, just like Ray was last post-season.

Some games he'll look great, others he will look really stiff going up and down the court and his jumper will front-rim a lot because he doesn't have the elevation.

No disrespect to Ray (there's been enough of that around here), but I fully expect KG to be able to give a better effort than Ray Allen did last year.  I just think he's wired a little differently.

Disagree, If hes healthy enough he will if not then he won't. KG is not superman. He can only do what his body allows.

Since we don't know what to expect from KG till we see him on the court, I'd rather be hopeful than miserable.

As Celtics18 said, he'll either be back strong and ready or he won't.   I have no need to expect the worst.   And i also don't expect DA or Doc to either tell us the full story.  Playoffs don't start for another 3 weeks.  It is probably legit that Doc/DA do not know how effective KG will be.

I need to give Lightskinsmurf a TP, because I'm pretty sure he called this a couple days ago.

I called this when KG made that statement "yall don't know what I know" and every acted like I was the fool lol

I'm sure he said something as well though lol
