I think a poor man's Luol Deng is more apropos.

Come on!!!!!Really?!?!?!?!

A poor man's Kevin Durant? Really?

George Gervin might be considered a poor man's Kevin Durant and he's in the Hall of Fame. Jeff Green? Not close.

Jeff Green doesn't play like Durant.  Durant is a shooter who sets up the drive with the threat of the jumpshot.  Jeff Green is a slasher who sets up the jumpshot with the threat that he might drive.  Different approaches to scoring.  You can also shut Jeff Green down by forcing him away from the right-handed drive, whereas with Durant you're screwed unless he's just having an off night.

As an aside:  I hope Durant gets to play without Westbrook at some point.  I'd love to see what he can do when he doesn't have to share with a chucker of a PG.

Well, Luol Deng is a superb defender, unlike Jeff so I don't really see how they can be compared.

I was just trying to find a comparable player to Jeff's skill set... sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings.  :-[

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I'd say a poor man's Rudy Gay.

I'd say a poor man's Rudy Gay.

Rudy Gay is the name that comes to my mind as well, although I'm not so sure Jeff Green is worse than Rudy Gay.  Not this year, at least.

Rudy is a better rebounder and a slightly better FT shooter, but that's about it.  Jeff Green is a better deep shooter, a more efficient scorer overall, less turnover-prone and a better defender.  Rudy scores more points, but only because he takes more shots.

Given a choice between them, I'd take Jeff Green.

I advocate Green and I love the strides he's made, but Gay is the better player. I disagree that Green is the better defender, but am with you on him being more efficient and less turn over prone.

It can go either way, but what I think separates Green and Gay (imo) is that Gay is a go to scorer in the 4th quarter. He's a proven, clutch performer. He's one of those few players who you can give the ball to and he can create off the dribble (like Pierce, Kobe, etc. You can trust these kinds of players). Can't do that with Green. He had 2 amazing game winners that I loved, but it wasn't clutch. It was clutch, but not clutch.

I'd take Green over every SF in the league, except maybe Durant :) (I would never take a LeBron or Carmelo, and I prefer Green over George/Batum/Gay, etc.)

I'm sorry, but this might be the most incredulous thing I've ever read on this forum.  Ever.
