and everyones forgetting the big night from Jeff Green...27points :P

I like how he started off 0-4 but that didn't stop him from being aggressive.

That should be a lesson.  Just because a guy misses four shots in a row to start the game, that doesn't mean you should bench him in favor of "riding the hot hand".

If you didn't watch the game I can see how you'd think Terry played an equal or bigger part of the win than Shavlik.  Stats don't tell the whole story.

Don't get me wrong, Terry was great offensively.  His shots were wide open threes for the most part.  He is supposed to shoot a good percentage of wide open threes.  That is why he has a job.

Shavlik blocked two dunk attempts.  When was the last time you saw that?  And the offensive rebounds he got were one against four most of the time.  It was really stunning.  The guy has some really special hands.

Not to trivialize players accomplishments last night, but multiple players had a really good game last night.  Perhaps, instead of individual accolades, we had an UBUNTU moment.  Team effort wins.  Each players good play allowed another to shine.

As long as Shav does not try to create his own shot, i'm happy with everything else. The effort, hustle was great to see, especially from a big man. He has deceptively quick feet, gets past his man and goes after the ball. The two blocks were very suprising to see

Just by this game alone, he should get a chance as first off the bench big guy over wilcox the next game

I loved what I saw last night, but before everyone goes and calls for Shav to start seeing serious minutes remember he wasn't out there banging with Horford or even Pachulia. The Hawks only guy above 6'8 out there was Johan Petro who only sees 10 mins a game himself because he is a work in progress. I don't mean to take anything away from the kids game, just trying to put it in perspective.

That being said I loved the rebounding and energy, I haven't seen a guy in green work the offensive boards like that in years. I understand why Doc prefers to get back on D, but its so much more enjoyable to watch players fight for the second chance points and it makes a difference.

I really was looking forward to seeing this kid play ever since we signed him. I didn't (and still don't) hope for too much out of him but I'm excited about his size and the fact that he played so consistently well in China (even though it was just China).

I hope Doc gives him some quality minutes against better competition before KG comes back to see if he can contribute anything like this in a more meaningful game on a consistent basis if given 5-10 mins off the bench.

How quickly we forget about Sullinger.  :P Seriously though if he can bring that dynamic of being an offensive rebounder for us in a similar fashion as Sully did he could really help us as we go into the playoffs.

I must say I am really impressed with the signings from China and the trade for Crawford.   I even think White can play a little bit, and all of them seem to be a step up from last year's mid season aquisition, Ryan Hollins.

Isn't Shavlik just basically a free Sully? 250k is a steal, and we'd better keep him next year!

I don't understand why Doc is not giving Shavlik some playing time, until now.

I mean he's no savior be he has length, and Doc during the previous games just KEEPS on insisting on small ball.

Play the man, Doc. He's a capable big. He's a Dukie so he will hustle and play right. I hope he gets atleast 10-12 minutes a game come playoff time. If he performs at this level every time he comes in to the game, he'll be very valuable for us.

I think Sully is better in almost every way than Shav.  Rebounds, shooting, definitely free throw shooting, passing, setting picks, defense including one v one and help defense as well as taking charges.  The one thing Shav might bring is energy and possibly finishing in close.

Remember that Doc knows way more about Shav than us, and how he's been praising Shav a lot. I think Danny and Doc were both smart with Shav! :)

Looking at career NBA #'s, and not just comparing so far this year (because Shav blows him away there in rebounding), Sully's got a slightly better DRB%, Shav better ORB% and TRB%.  Shav's the better blocker by quite a bit.  Sully is much better at the FT line and in overall TS%.  They have an identical 13.5 career NBA PER.  Sully's ahead in winshares and asst%, Shav leads in steals.

And Shav's been improving in the three years since he'd last played in the NBA.  I wouldn't consider it as clear-cut as you do.

Neither guy can really jump, but Shav has a little more height.

In fairness to Sully's ORB%, in his very short career he's played on a team that emphasizes getting back on D verse going for the offensive board.

Shav can be a very serviceable big man. Reggie Evans, maybe... I'd like him to expand his offensive game a bit, with just ONE nice close-to-the-rim move (hook shot?) but man... he can get quite a few points from putbacks!

Really liking him! On top of it all, he's humble :) love humble players.

Never a need for small ball. Free DJ too.  :) :)

My favorite thing Shav does, pick and roll. Bass wouldn't roll to save his life. If he watches Shav, he will realize that rolling towards the basket gives you rebounding opportunities.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I don't care who it was against or who was in there this game was more about Shav, he finally looks comfortable and up to NBA speed. He showed he has a knack for the ball and rebounding in the same way Sully does. It'll be fun to see him and KG together.
