Should Danny Trade Out of The 2013 Draft?

I would trade it for a 2014 first if it is possible. I like about a half dozen players in this draft but as others have said, the 2014 draft class is going to be talented and deep. I read an article that because Willie Cauley Stein, Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress are all staying another year at Kentucky that it is possible Kentucky could have 9 first round picks chosen in the 2014 draft. That's absurd.

trading out for 2014 is smart for the reason that it will be a strong draft.

They say this EVERY year and every year it doesn't happen. Some of the kids in the group you said will disappoint a little.  Their flaws will be shown a la Harrison Barnes, Shabazz Muhammad etc.  Ainge should just pick the guy he thinks is going to be a player.  Avery Bradley was in a weak draft but he we got him at pick 19.  Just because it's weak doesn't mean there are no sleepers.  In a year like this it just means there is no top tier talent.

But I think the C's should be looking hard at draft day trades to try to get a big man.  That would be the day to go after someone like Gortat, if you can.

I also think there might be value in trading the 2013 pick for a pick in 2015, but I wouldn't do that until I had a good idea who was going to be on the board for my pick this year.  I suspect there are going to be a few people that don't declare in 2014 and end up in 2015, which might strengthen that draft (ala Sullinger, PJ3, etc.).

This is another viable option but I'd be much more  selective with which team I deal a 2013 to.  I'd want to deal with someone that will be borderline playoff team if at all possible.  2015 may be a good one but that's based on the speculation some of the 2014 talent decides to wait to increase their selection  point in the draft

I think a more realistic trade idea, if Ainge doesn't like anyone, would be trading down for a later first-round pick and a future second, then dealing that later first-round pick so that you drop out of the first completely, picking up a pick in the first half of the second round of 2013, plus another second-round pick.

The Timberwolves have two first round picks and two seconds.  Maybe they would be interested in moving up from the Grizzlies pick for the price of a second-round pick this year (they have Brooklyn's and OKC's, but not their own, last I checked) and a future one (they seem to have two in 2014 and 2015).  They have 11 players under contract (including Brandon Roy) for next season, plus a team option on Dante Cunningham, plus a player option for Kirilenko, plus Pekovic and Chase Budinger as free agents with Bird rights, so I can't imagine them having room for all those draft picks, though they can certainly go the Euro-stash route.

The problem of trading out of a perceived weak draft is that it is not a sellers market. So we could get burned real bad trying to trade our draft pick - see Phoenix when they sold the Rondo pick to us. Look at them now in the post Steve Nash era. Be careful with this one.

The middle of this draft is actually the strong point. There are only a handful of players in this draft that would constitute a top ten pick in most drafts and no one who would normally be a first pick talent. However there are a lot of players who have 10-20 talent. This makes the bottom of the first and beginning of the second a great place to score solid nba talent for cheap.
A player like Seth Curry will likely go at the end of the this years first and have a long career as a shooter of the bench.

The rate we're playing, the pick will be in the mid teens.  Still, I agree that we're not getting a 2014 pick for a 2013 pick.  Maybe a 2015 pick, but not next year.
