We can't all agree to anything.  Can we agree on that?

This is not a thread about bashing Jeff Green , but it seems pretty apparent to me that he is a # 3 scorer at best. I love his versatility , defense, and go to ability(against certain matchups). He doesn't have the mentality to be a go to guy.

so to be a title contender we have to add a big man and a #1 wing scorer .

I am thinking we have to add a Marc Gasol, and a paul george type to be legit contenders again.

When will we have cap room again ?  :-\

Admit it, you only launched this thread to troll CelticsConcourse.

Ah yeah that's actually a pretty big complement considering Ray Allen was our last #3 and heone of the greatest scorers of all time.

But in general it really matters who your teammates are and how good your team is and how realistically you are "contending"

Its hard to say what guys like igloudala, joe johnson, Al horford, J smith, al jefferson etc really are until they are on a title contending team and uou see how they do.

I mean Harden was a number 3 last year and what is he this year?

I see him more as a third option as a PF but more of a fourth option at SF.

Until Jeff Green learns to finish at the rim he still just a role player for me

He honestly has all of the moves in the world, he just can't convert at the rim...complete opposite of jordan crawford who has no moves.awkward moves but manages to have his layups just miraculously fall in

Funny I see it the other way around. IMO, Green is a very good finisher just not a lot of moves. He struggles to get separation from his defender. Just about every shot he creates for himself he has the defender hanging right off of him. The only layups I really see him miss are the strongly contested ones.

Yeah, he's been finishing great lately.  Those righthanded layups high off the glass after a mini broad jump are really hard and require a ton of touch.  I'm surprised they go in so much.

He just doesn't have a lot of moves.  He goes right 95 percent of the time and it's always with a straightforward drive.  It used to be 99 percent but he's gone left a few times recently and successfully too.  He has no crossover, no hesitation move, no wiggle jab step that Pierce uses frequently and no spin move.  I'm floored that his dribble drive game is so vanilla.  Who doesn't have a crossover dribble?  A spin move doesn't seem like it should be hard for him either.

I think green is a solid #3 option who becomes the #2 against the right matchups.

In terms of 1,2,3 and 4 options I want to bring up the fact that the 03-04 Pistons had the following

#1  Hamilton  17.6 pts
#2  Billups   16.9 pts
#3  R Wallace 13.7 pts
#4  prince    10.3 pts
#5  Okur      9.6 pts
    Williamson 9.5 pts
    Wallace    9.5 pts

He is a third option to me until he can become a guy you can run the offense thru. Until then, he is a streaky shooter/ slasher. Man has got to learn how to drive and dish

I don't get this #1,#2 thing as if it was set in stone. Green is a scorer, and like Galeto said, he lacks moves and he should be working like a mad man next offseason, to improve his footwork and ballhandling, because he's a good finisher. He's a decent shooter, and I'm still waiting for him to make another step on D. Remember he's feeling like 90% recovered, so more confidence will be good for him.

And basketball is a team game, you need balance at any time, and then you need talent. Obviously if you have a superstar who is helped by the refs (Jordan, Shaq, LeBron...) it's easier, but you still need balance.

This team needs a rim protector/post defender C (Melo? or FA), a skilled PF who can score inside/outside and rebound (KG is that, Sully if healthy could really be a Love type of PF), a SF who can do it all (Pierce is that, Green could be in his own way), an outside scorer at the SG (Bradley??) and a PG (Rondo is a star). If you have enough talent at every spot, and backups who are good enough to fill in for the starting five, you are good to go against anyone.

Of course, the biggest question is at C and SG (and PG if Rondo was traded). This team has good prospects at SF and PF for when KG/PP retire, but Avery is not a Dumars type (yet), and Melo is years away from filling that role. In an ideal world, Rondo stops being Mr Hide/Dr. National TV and he can be consistent. Sully has the talent to score inside and outside, and Green can give you 20 on any night. If Avery keeps improving his offense, you have 4 players who can score consistently, and then you need that physical C who can cover for lack of rebounding, defensive lapses, and who can put alley-oops and put backs. The problem is we're missing him since forever. Perk was a decent option, but if you want to win it all without 3 Hall of Famers, you need a better Perk.

I hope we haven't seen the best from Jeff Green yet, but we need a balanced team.

He's not a gut who can score any given defender (whether physically or mentally or some combo of the two), but when he gets it in his head that he can take a guy, then has some success with it, he can be a #1 on those nights.

So, um, yeh...That's not really #1 material.

No, until he develops something different from a spot-up jump shot and a one-dribble drive to the right, he remains a situational, rather than a go-to scorer. This has nothing to do with what's going on in his head.
