Now I know someone will let me have it for seeming as if I am giving up on this year's team but I am really curious about what will happen this off season.

There seems to be more and more questions about this team and what they will do no matter how the season ends.

What do you think will happen? If you were GM for the day, what would you try to do?

Fire away folks, I am eager to hear what you all think.

I think Danny will TRY to be extremely aggressive.  I think everyone will be available, and everyone will be shopped.  But ultimately, I think the most likely scenario is that next years team is not too dissimilar from this years team.

I think KG and Pierce end up retiring, but they don't file their papers until July allowing us to move their deals to a team looking for cap space (in return for a young player or picks). I think this ankle injury combined with an early playoff exit will spell the end for KG and Pierce will decide to go out with him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Are you paying Pierce 15 mil? or exercising the 5 mil buyout?

I dont think much will happen. The only big thing I could see happening are Pierce and KG calling it quits. Even so, if this happens we are set up with a starting lineup consisting of

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Sullinger
Fill in the Center

With Terry, Lee and Bass coming off the bench with maybe Crawford as well?

The Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sully core make us young and exciting again, throw Lee in there too, but nowhere near any type of contention, still playoff bound. Danny looks to move Bass and Terry but I dont see many takers for us. Not sure who we could sign to fill in the holes with KG and Pierce out.

If they dont retire, we make on more run with

Rondo/Terry
Bradley/Lee
Pierce/Green
Sully/Bass
KG/Center?

Which really isnt all that bad if we can finally get a legit big man to take away KG's minutes and allow him to rest. KG could still play 20 minutes a game on my squad next year with Pierce around 25 - 28.

I don't think there is any point in buying out Pierce with Green, Bass and Terry on the books. Those guys will eat up too much of the potential available cap space.

So I would keep Pierce.

I think the Celtics are not giving up any draft picks in a trade, unless it is to acquire a guy who deserves a max contract.

If the Celtics really don't want to pay luxury tax and think they have no shot at contention, dumping Pierce would be the easiest way to accomplish that cheapskate goal.

Pierce and KG - they stay hoping for one last shot with everyone now on the same page with the same expectations and hopefully healthy. Both start games but play smaller roles(like 5-7 mpg less)

Rondo - comes back and has a great bounce back season

Bradley - back and starting beside Rondo and continues his development as the best perimeter defender in the NBA that can also score on three pointers and cuts in the half court.

Lee- comes back as first guard of the bench

Sullinger - comes back thinner, stronger and smarter and starts

Green - comes back and might usurp the starting SF position from Pierce by year's end

Crawford - comes back and assumes instant offense role that JET/Barbosa needed to supply this year

Melo - after a good Summer League and pre season he starts to earn limited big man minutes behind KG

1st round pick - will be relegated to the D-League or traded away and not used

Bass/Jet/Williams/Randolph/White - the trade bait that this team uses to replenish their frontcourt

Wilcox - could be back as a 3rd center or 4th PF.

Doc - returns for one more year with PP and KG. I think he leaves when they do.

If we lose to the heat again I think we need to just accept its time to rebuild. With KG and Pierce being another year older next year and rondo coming back from an ACL injury I'm not exactly optimistic about our chances of beating the heat next year either.

Plus PP may opt out of the last year of his current contract ($15 mil) to sign a multi-year KG-ish deal (3 year ~$30 mil with the last year only ~$5 mil guaranteed). Something like that.

Without a realistic shot at the title, it's unlikely the Cs would commit to that kind of deal. Maybe b/c it's PP, they would, but IMO it seems more likely to force Danny into making radical changes.

pretty dead on from my perspective.

I think the one thing I really don't agree with is Melo.  I think he's part of the trade bait group but if he's kept he'll be in D-league for at least another year.

I think Danny's going to roll with pretty much what we have now for next year with only minor changes to the frontcourt backups.
