Really makes you glad they didn't / couldn't blow it up at the deadline, huh?
I can't help but laugh now when I think of people talking about how they just wanted to keep watching the old guys play their last games. Winning some games is better than tanking! Don't blow it up! Winning a championship isn't everything, we can still have a respectable season?
This is pretty much what I was expecting all along. The injuries are too much, and the roster is too disjointed and flawed, too reliant on a couple of guys in their mid-30s to carry 90% of the load.
What we get isn't pretty, or enjoyable to watch. I'd prefer to see this team tanking out of the playoffs than limping their way into the slaughterhouse in the first round.
The thing is that I believe DA did try to blow it up but the Clippers Mngt was probably afraid of just this type of thing happening so wouldn't really give it up for KG.
This team is in trouble if both KG and PP are not healthy and playing well. Even without RR, we can make noise in the playoffs with KG and PP but healthy and playing well (not exhausted) are big "ifs".
At the beginning of the season, RR was putting up huge numbers but we were still losing because PP and KG were playing old. Then we had a great stretch where PP and KG along with several role players were all clicking and we started winning and beating good teams, even without Rondo.
Now we don't have Rondo or Sully or Barbosa and KG and PP are playing old again (at least on the road) or even worse, KG may not be just old but actually injured. The result is we are playing like a lottery team.
Our margin is razor thin. We may still be OK but it all depends on KG and PP.
