From Stein's Weekend Dime:  http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/weekenddime-130322-23/weekend-dime
Quote
15. The Heat have faced deficits of 27 (Cleveland), 17 (Boston), 16 (New York), 14 (Portland) and 11 (Atlanta) points during the streak. All but the Portland game were road games.

16. Explain this one: Miami is 9-0 this season when the opposition has a player with 31 or more points.

Was it all... according to plan?

You might remember that in Game 2 during the playoffs last year, Rondo went off for 44 points in a loss against Miami.   Is Miami allowing it?  Kinda reminds me of when the Celtics let Jordan score 63 points... Boston didn't care if JOrdan scored as long as they stopped everyone else... and they did.  Boston won that historic game.

EDIT:  Just so everyone is clear... I'm specifically talking about the recent game where Jeff Green went off for 40+ and Miami came away with the win.  I'm not talking about the playoffs last year... where Miami let us take a 3-2 lead before coming back and whipping us in game 6 and 7.

We didn't even feed Green that much late in the game (he was on the bench!) so I'd blame Doc, not the Heat

It's a possibility.  Miami's defensive prowess enables them to shut down entire teams, so it wouldn't surprise me if they are letting one guy get his and locking everyone else up.

MIA beat a team that didn't have one of the best defensive Bigs ever - by two pts.

MIA and BOS will meet again in a series, and I for one, feel just like Bart Scott, here:

anyone have some quarter-by-quarter splits for LeBron James during this 25 game win streak?  I read a comment in some thread that claimed that LeBron was doing this intentionally... and that he coasts for the first half of the game, miami tries to keep it tight... and then LeBron knows he can completely take over and dominate anyone in the second half.

I don't have the stats, but from the 10-15 games I've watched of their streak, that's exactly what's happened.

It's crazy how LeBron can just switch gears on a dime.

So he's literally conserving his energy and taking over late?  I'd love to see some stat splits by quarter.  Surprised I can't find any.

Pretty much.

Take the Boston game, for example: everyone's overhyping his dunk, mainly because LeBron didn't have a dominant first half against the Celtics.  He played fine, but he wasn't his usual MVP-self.

Look at the fourth, where he came back in at like the 9 minute mark and practically carried Miami to a win. He had something like 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists during those final 9 minutes.  Scary stuff.

Oof.  Celtics :: Heat as Jets :: Patriots?  That's a little bit too close to the truth for comfort.

FALSE, that dunk would have been hyped up even if lebron had 40 points when it happend.

We fed him alright, he just started missing because the Heat figured out they actually need to play team defense on the penetration.

I know...I try to be careful when posting that around here.

No offense, Pats fans :).

I'd look literally at Bart's words, myself.

I simply can't wait for BOS to see MIA in a series again.

What else really matters NBA-wise at this point?

No it wasn't planned by the Heat, Green had a career night, nobody expected him to go off for 40.

I think miami has an on and off switch like the celtics. Difference between the two is, miami still finds ways to win even when they don't play a consistent 48mins of basketball.

What a great way to discredit great performances by Rondo and Green.

You are good at this.

I seem to remember a very big part of that loss was Rondo getting smacked in the head by wade, and not getting the call (which was obvious), by the way.

I suppose that was all apart of LeBron's plans though.
