I'm not sure where this myth that "the way to beat Miami is with big guys that clog up the middle" came from. It's just not true. They spread shooters all over the floor including Bosh so having a big man to clog things up is nulliied. The way to beat Miami is to play "plus perimeter defenders and a quick mobile big that can play pick n roll. You have to deny dribble penetration as much as possible. Make their looks as tough as possible from the perimeter. And don't turn the ball over.

Exactly. Key to beating Miami is the defend the pick and roll so well that Celtics prevent dribble drives, and make the Heat shoot mostly jumpshots

But you also need an offense. A super-subpar one like last year's just ran out at the end.

Actually, what probably would have made the biggest difference in game six last year was if anyone on our team had the gonads to level LeBron on his way to the rim, or start raking his arms "hard" on a couple jump shots.

I could watch the game again, but from memory I am pretty sure that he pretty much waltzed around the court and to the rim in that game six pretty much unscathed.

That was the most unacceptable part of game six to me last year. If you're at home with 48 minutes between you and the NBA finals you figure out a way to punch the guy who is having a game of the ages against you - right in the forehead. You have to disrupt that game.

I'm not saying you chop block the guy - but there are so many ways to get under a guy's skin on the court to disrupt him without being dirty and dangerous or getting techs.

it may or may not have worked that day - but the fact that we didn't try was unacceptable.

He pretty much waltzed around with nary a glancing blow from us  - all night.

That game should have been a game seven bar brawl that spilled out into the streets with garbage cans flying.

We played it like a preseason game in Iceland against a JV team from Senegal.

Game seven in LA in 2010 was hard - but not even close to as hard as watching game six last year.

In game 7 of 2010 we were throwing the garbage cans all night - we just lost...

Game six last year? We were sipping Mint Julips and letting garbage cans bounce off our heads for 48 minutes.

Unless everyone on our team was throwing down that game I don't think Perkins would have made a difference.

But I can guarantee you one thing - Perkins would've leveled LeBron 2-3 times - hard - at the rim. That would've have been a good start..

TP

We should have played that game like a game 7 because we were not going to beat them in Miami in a 'real' game 7. That was our game 7 and we just let him put on a stoneface and run all over us. Where was our stonecrazed player. Rondo was in a zone in game 2. Why didnt he or PP get in that zone for game 6???

I believe Jeff Green can check LeTravel James.
I know AB can check Dweeb.
I know KG can check Bosh.
I believe Courtney Lee can take out Chalmers.

I worry about Bass on Udonis Haslem.

That leaves Ray Allen to go one on one with J E T JetJetJet.

There is a lot to this Cheat team. I think there is a lot to this Celtics team but if KG is battling injuries it might not be our time to win here. But Boston needs this more to win their division while the Cheat has top seed cinched.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

To be honest, I never really liked our chances to win game six.  We had just beaten them three games in a row; beating a team that good four times in a row seemed like a stretch.  I always thought that our chances were better in game seven, even though it was in Miami.  And, we put up a strong effort in game seven.  Unfortunately, we ran out of gas down the stretch in the fourth quarter.  In the end, the Heat deserved it, but there wasn't much separating the two teams.

saw that last year haslem defenden bass well, then bass misses, lebron and bosh for the rebounds, that is why pf and c guys need to sacrifice there bodies like tyson chandler did in dallas, if you watch indiana vs heat last years playoffs, when hibbert clogged the middle, d-wade and lebron can't even attack

The main key to beat the Heat is not having Dikembe Mutombo, but being physical. Last year we only had Rondo, Bass and KG, as the rest of the team was injured, and we couldn't guard LeTravel and Karate Hamster. They drove and kicked out to open shooters all day. Another key is not giving them easy baskets, you have to move the ball wisely, no sloppy turnovers that lead to alley-oops and layups.

We should have won game 6, but game 6 never should've happen. We deserved to win game 2, but that's history. Even with all those injuries, this team could've won multiple championships (2010, 2012) if our offense didn't collapse here and there. That shows how big our Defense has been. Elite.

Back to present time, I'd love the Celtics to play suffocating D on Chalmers, Wade and LeBron, make them unconfortable. And of course, if they get to the rim, I want DJ White to level them to the ground, just a hard foul, no injuries.

Yeah very true. Which is why Danny sought out sure fire scorers like Terry, Courtney Lee, Crawford to rack up points

Yup. It's a game like that where the Perk trade really hurt us.

The only thing Perk could have done that game was get Mozgov'd.

LeBron was pretty much unstoppable that night.

if perkins was here, he just clogged the middle and maybe 12 rebounds a game, but since green is getting better, the person i rely on too is letting us down bass? sully is injured, white maybe can cover the middle while kg on rebounds
