I would want young assets and lottery picks. Something similar to what OKC got in return for James Harden.

I think I agree with this.

If Rondo is being traded, it's most likely part of a massive roster overhaul/rebuild. So a trade that nets future picks and some young talent on rookie-scale contracts is probably the best strategy.

Moving out a longer-term contract to boot would be good too.

Eek. Lin. I'd rather that the circus didn't come to town.

Ha I was just thinking of 6.10 guys who can rebound and shoot free throws (I think he does?)

I'm not a big fan of lin. Not really a big fan of asik either but havent seenn him play muxh this year. He more just seems like the type of guy who will get injured or be injured all the time
Asik is not a good FT shooter at all. Also, if the cost is Rondo, I'd prefer a guy who is not completely inept offensively (and Asik is not a very good offensive player at all).

Asik is serviceable in a way Perk was before the injury, but he's by no means a world-beater, and is likely peaking at this stage of his career.

I would take Lin, Asik and picks for Rondo. That's the first good deal I've seen this year! TP

Nobody.

That's kind of a one sided trade.  Rondo is worth more.... :o

If I had to do a deal(and I'm not sure if the new S&T rules will allow this this offseason or not) but I would do Rondo and Bass for Pau. It eliminates Rondo and Bass' contracts and replaces them with a post up player who could easily play off Paul and KG. Pau can provide additional scoring as well. Our starting 5 is AB/Lee/Paul/KG/Pau.

The Lakers do with as it allows Nash to come off the bench where he really belongs at this point. Kobe likes Rondo's game. Bass fits in right next to Howard spreading the floor like he did in Orlando. And now the starting lineup fits together better. And also they get younger and more athletic. All this assuming Howard plans to resign of course.

As I stated earlier in the thread, I'd seriously consider trading Rondo, Bass and Terry for Gasol, Duhon (for salary purposes) & a pick. Not because I want Gasol. Pure dump for the stacked draft and FA crop in the summer of '14.

Same issue as the Dragic / Gortat suggestion, except these players are worse. No reason to take on commitments to mediocre vets in exchange for Rondo. Either get an All-Star caliber player, or get rookie contracts and picks.

I'd love Asik in green.  I could take or leave Lin.

Wow!! You are saying that you want to basically trade away our best young player in a salary dump for a Laker pick that is likely to be a late first rounder and cap space?

That move will surely have the free agents flocking to Boston.

Alright I'll play this game.

Rondo, Bass, and Sullinger for Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio.

Rondo for Faried and Gallinari.

I don't get that trade for Boston at all.  I'd love to have Pau, but I would stick with Pau and Metta for Green, Bass, and Terry (maybe Lee if I had to).  By including Metta, LA gets a huge cap savings and he replaces Green as Boston's backup SF so LA might be willing to take on less back (and it also means they don't have to amnesty anyone).  Pau and Metta are both expiring, which when coupled with Pierce (who is expiring) and KG (who would then likely retire), would make Boston a major player in free agency after the 2014 season and would still let them have Rondo to build around and attract free agents.  And the real key to the trade from Boston is a team with Rondo, Lee (hopefully), Bradley, Crawford, Pierce, Metta, Gasol, Garnett, Sullinger (and the draft pick this year) would be a real threat to win the title with the size down low, the wing scoring from Pierce, and the PG play of Rondo.

Also, other players could also be included to get LA a bigger tax savings if necessary to get the deal done (like adding Hill and Blake and sending both Terry and Lee)

Sorry i just assumed that all euros were good free throw shooters.

I'm just trying to think outside the box. Don't want to trade rondo but also kind of boted looking at the same players in scenarios.

Rondo and sully for Randolph and Conley?

Rondo for hibbert and Hill?

Problem is sonman teams have young good pg's or stud pg's. Doesnt seem to make much sense for most teams or at least teams that have players wed be interested in

I see your point but I don't see LA doing your deal. Gasol is still a supremely talented big and your deal basically sells him off for complementary scrap parts. I just wouldn't see them agreeing to something like that. Dealing for Rondo gives them a young All-Star PG to pair with Dwight for the future when Kobe leaves. And in getting Pau we get the talent up front to pair with KG to put us near the top of the conference. And after the 2014 season we still get all that cap space to pair with AB, CLee, Green, and Sully to build with.
