  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
http://bostonherald.com/sports/celtics_nba/boston_celtics/2013/03/always_a_moving_story_for_terrence_williams

Quote
“It’s more of a brotherhood here, especially with the older guys — Paul, JT and KG,” said Williams. “I call JT my older brother, because I’ve known him so long. I call Paul and KG my older uncles that you don’t want to see when you get in trouble, but you respect everything they’ve done.

“You’re playing with Hall of Famers here. It can’t get no better than that.”
Quote
And who Williams is working for now seems to be having a profound effect on him. It was a given that he’d look at his next NBA opportunity differently after what was a difficult experience for him in China, but to have that chance be with one of the NBA’s cornerstone franchises has added to what he sees as a blessing.

“It’s unreal,” Williams said. “I mean, if somebody wrote this three weeks ago, nobody would believe them.

“You know, for a guy that supposedly has all these attitude problems and (expletive) like that, to go to China and be able to get picked up in the same year — and now hopefully a two-year deal — that’s God working. Only God could write that story, and I believe that God don’t make no mistakes.”
Quote
“It’s about sticking to your role,” he said. “They definitely showed faith in me, and I appreciate it. So if my role is to be the backup point guard while (Rajon) Rondo’s not here and run the team when I’m on the floor, then that’s what I’ll do. You know, I’m not really looking to score right now. It’s part of my game, but I’m looking to get others involved — which I’ve always done in my life. So I definitely know my role.”

Okay, I completely love this guy now. He knows what it means to be a Celtic. I don't see any attitude issues at all - just a humble kid who wants to play some basketball with the greatest basketball franchise in the world. Welcome to the family, T-Will; it's great to have you!

Hard to disagree with that. Seems like the stint in China really turned things around for him. Hopefully things will turn out for him on the court with us too. He said and done all the right things thus far, seems to feel fortunate for the situation he is in, and really respects the fact that he is learning from some really great nba talents. good stuff from this kid.

The guy can make plays and pass and has some size.  The potential has always been there so it's good he has the right attitude here.

I really like t-will.  I wanted the team to sign him this past off season; however,  the last couple of games have concerned me a little bit.  He seems more apprehensive and unsure of himself offensively and defensively since his benching after the Portland game. I know it's hard when you are getting inconsistent playing time,  but I hope he does not end up getting discouraged. One play that stands out to me happened early in the 4th(I think) last night. T-will drove to the basket and he had what looked like a good opportunity to score.  Instead he ended up turning the ball over trying to drop off a pass to kg. Shortly afterwards,  he was benched.  I think that he is over thinking the game right now trying to fit in. Doc's statement that he thinks he is a distributor and not a scorer may be true,  but I think it is weighing too heavily on t-will right now

I noticed the same play you brought up, he should have put up a shot, but he also had a play like when he set up Crawford beautifully for a three.

I wouldn't be worried.  The team obviously likes William's abilities.

Talk is cheap. Jermaine O'Neal talked a good game, too.

Yeah, I don't understand the fascination about the "SEE! This guy knows what it means to be a Celtic".

Everyone can talk the talk, particularly when you've just been signed.

Yup, I saw the exact same play.  Perhaps he was channeling his inner Rondo. :)  I think Doc got on him after that Portland game where he got a little trigger happy so he might be overthinking just a little on whether to shoot or not, but I think he will settle in with some more minutes and will know when it is time to shoot or pass.

I noticed T-Will kicking out a pass that went to a turnover when he had a layup too.  Even though it's not optimal, and you just want a guy to make the right play in any given circumstance, be it shooting or passing, I don't mind it because it's part of the process of making T-Will focus on his passing, which is at NBA level.  If someone had gotten on him earlier like Doc has to not try to be a scorer when his greatest skill is passing, he might not have washed out of the league.

My hope is that T-Will, whether this year or next, can get his feet set in the NBA as a facilitator and defender and then start to play with more instinct.  For right now, I like the notion of rebuilding him from the ground up and getting him back to the kind of player he was in college.

I'm confused. I thought Doc was destroying his soul by benching him last week.

I'm a big fan of this kid.

He wears the same number as my fave, E'Twaun Moore, so it's easier to love!
