Ironically, I thinks its realistic that Sully would be ready by mid May though he wouldn't be if he had a fusion. Otherwise he would be ready. 4 months on a low back surgery should be enough. If we get a surprise like that Id expect we see him by late March and the rumors start

So would we want Sully in the playoffs at say, 70%?

Well because thats they way it goes on an internet blog I'll answer the questions this way:

yes he would be 80-100% physically and his bb shape would depend on HIM

He would be at almost no risk of injury after what we would assume was an exceptional surgeon trimming the disc. You want to mobilize not rest it. And if 120 days isn't enough, 180 won't be either. He needs to get active asap.

If however, he had a fusion yes he won't be ready until fall

As Sullinger described it, the surgeons removed the herniation in his spine from the bulging disc, and until the disc scars up and gets set into place, he is stuck playing video games.

look at derrick rose, even though his was not a partial tear, ACLs usually take a little while. 8 months for adrian peterson was seen as super quick.

a quick recovery for rondo would be to return for training camp.

AP's return was so quick, steroid or PED speculation is almost becoming a necessity, even though there is no evidence to support it.

If Rondo came back for the playoffs Id expect him to be soley dining on human pituitary glands and nothing else.

Anthony Hopkins, make it so!

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?

Sure but depending on how we're playing going into the Playoffs should determine whether he gets to start or not. Doc doesn't have the cahonies to sit Rondo. He will start so Doc has an excuse for losses. No one is ever 100% coming off injuries or any time out for that matter. It would be reckless with his career and we'd lose the trade option if he played poorly. Wisdom say's he should be out till next Season.

They have to clear him, I doubt it happens as it is too much risk vs. little reward.

I just see this as a complete physical impossibility.

Just no.
Let's assume this is physically possible for a moment and he could be back at 60%-70% for the play-off time, returning well before the injury's timetable.
Still, just no. Derrick Rose made it clear that he won't be coming back without feeling 110%, so, I don't think pushing that much would do any good. Aggravating such an injury could be career threatening, so, why risk it, anyway?

Not good for Rondo; not good for the ballclub.

In a word, no.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Nope I don't want him back until he's healed. Prevent further injury and allows him to continue to improve his jumper. And he can learn to trust that his teammates can move the ball too :P

just stick with hoping he's ready to go next training camp.  No Rondo, no Sully for the playoffs.

This, however I foresee in the future that ACL surgery and medicine will advance further. Like maybe in twenty years. Rehab will be three months or so. No longer will it be a season-ending surgery. In the past it was career-ending.

We played badly with a healthy Rondo, how bad would we be with a 30-50 % Rondo

Holy hell, no!

I only want Rondo back when he is 100% healthy.  Hopefully that is sometime in Oct/Nov.  If it's later, so be it.

No and no. Jameer in 2009.
That was more Van Gundy's fault..
I agree. Van Gundy should have stuck with Alston who had a great playoff run that year
