Give Jeff Green a shot against Belinelli. Please!
Really, I can't believe Doc hasn't done that yet.
I would love to know how many minutes Jeff Green and Paul Pierce have played alongside one another on the wing.
I looked up Pierce's top twenty lineups (lineups with ten minutes or more) and none of them had the two out there together on the wing. Plenty of small-ball lineups where they played alongside one big man but none alongside two big men.
Just did the same for Jeff Green. None in his top twenty either (lineups with 7 minutes or more).
You may know this but on nba.com under the stats tab they have advanced stats, and one of the choices is player vs player. Plug in PP and Green for the two players and it will show you how much time they play together and how the team performs when both or just PP or just Green are in the game.
Yeah, I thought of that but I just want their stats when playing at the SG + SF positions together instead of the SF + PF positions where most of their minutes together come from. So that didn't really work for me.
Side note: Jeff Green's stats get a major boost with Pierce on the floor alongside him. His scoring rises from 13.4 points per 36 minutes to 19.5. His field goal percentage jumps from 40% to 51%. About 200 minutes with Pierce alongside him versus 330 minutes without Pierce. The team has a +/- of +2.2 with them on the court together and a -4.8 with Jeff Green there by himself.
Pierce's field goal percentage drops but his FTAs go way up and he scores more as a result. Which you would expect (the increased FTAs) with a small ball lineup. Better opportunities to attack the paint. More efficient scoring due to all the FTAs. Increased rebounding from Pierce also.
