He's a below average defender and is often quite horrid defending the pick n roll.
He has a tendency to go into 'rage mode' and completely ignore teams offensive sets when he's feeling it.Drove Indiana crazy. The big difference is that if we can get him on the floor with Rondo he can run and run and dominate teams in transition.

He had a great game tonight, but believe me, there will be plenty of games where you watch him and start pulling your hair out because of his selfishness particularly in 2 or 3 vs 1 situations.

I'm a fan of his but don't get too excited just yet.
I will not deny he was a bargain though.

Agreed.  I also think I remember (did not look up statistics) that he tends to miss weeks at a time due to injury.  Excited, value, tempered investment from me.  I hope he keeps giving us reasons to ask these questions!

When Barbosa plays like this, he's very valuable.

When his shot isn't falling, though, he doesn't do a lot of other things to help his team win.

Barbosa is an excellent value, and should be a nice addition to the team.  He's not going to play similar to this every night, though.

This is true.  I loved Leandro last night; however, that also could've been a terrible night if his shot wasn't falling.

Yeah but this is true for lots of guys in the league.

When JET or Rays shot isn't falling they don't offer much either

Take a deep breath.

He had a great game for him last night.

Let us not make this the expectation of him after one performance.

I don't think anyone expects that much. But Barbosa is good and we should expect him to be that.

I would be extremely dissapointed if this game turned out to be like Dooling great game against the Heat at the beginning of last year.

Same player as always.  When that smooth looking shot gets hot he can snap that net harder/louder than most of the league.  As soon as he looked off Rondo and left him in the dust going coast to coast, you knew he was fire.  The next possesion where he sent the guy flying with the pump fake was proof.

This is what I feared though, not enough minutes for him.  He's not as good of a player as Terry anymore, but can help in games like this where Terry is doing absolutely nothing against bigger guards like Wade, Miller, and Ray.

As for his defense, I thought he was actually an above average defender on a horrible defense in Phoenix (affected his pick and roll D, but was solid at keeping his man in front).  Last night he was pretty average, but certainly far from bad.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Between Barbosa, Lee, Jet and Bradley Doc must recognize early in the game who's hot and who's not.

If we keep pushing the pace and playing him in spurts with Rondo, then Barbosa will continue to be very potent offensively - he has a very good offensive track record in such situations (highly efficient volume scoring).

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

He will not always shoot like that.

However, the layups were legit.  He also had another waived off by a questionable screen call.

I like his speed and aggressiveness.

We have an abundance of riches as SG.  It's nice and all but I'd drop him for Birdman or someone.  We need another reliable big.

Still happy with the talent of course.

Isn't that basically the same with Terry.  Undersized... poor defender... when his shot isn't falling he doesn't do a lot of other things to help his team win.  I see them as dopplegangers of one another.

Doesn't Barbosa have better career shooting percentages than Terry?

Yeah he has a slightly better TS%. But not since he stopped playing alongside Steve Nash in Pheonix's run and gun offense.

I was impressed by how unconscious he was out there. His speed matches up well with the Heat and he torched them.

Pretty darn good for someone who has been on the team for two weeks.
