I know Rondo is the man, but Barbosa should be getting more mins. Its time to use a bench a lot more in the first half of the season. But Doc REALLY wanted this game.

16 points  6-8 from the field, perfect from three, got to the line 2 rimes..all in the space of 15 minutes?? Against one of the NBA's top defenses?

Was this just a one off performance, orwis Barbosa the most underrated signing of the entire off-season?

Barbosa has been in the league for awhile now. Every team knows what he brings to the floor, and it's too bad that it took Courtney Lee picking up 5 fouls to get Barbosa on the floor. He is instant offense and can create his own shot as well. It looked like he was going to single-handedly put us over the top in this one.

I think it was on the play after Bosh ended their scoring drought that we drew up the play for Pierce instead of continuing to ride the hot hand, and Pierce really had nowhere to go as everyone in the lane collapsed on him.

Bottom line: Doc needs to figure out what he needs from his players on certain nights, and tonight we showed that when we run, we will be hard to stop. I still don't understand why we didn't continue to run as much in the second half.

I was more excited about the Barbosa signing than the Terry signing.  I was legitimately confused by the "ranking" thread last week where most Celticsbloggers had Barbosa as one of our 3 worst players (along with the two bums from Syracuse)

He's 6 years younger than Terry... he's been just as much "instant offense" as Terry... he's got career averages of 24.6 minutes, 12.5 points with 46% shooting, 40% from three and 82% from the line.  He's also bigger than both Terry and Bradley.  There was nothing surprising about his performance last night.  I'm not sure why fans didn't make a bigger deal about it.  Like Terry, he's a former 6th man of the year.  I'm thrilled to have him in Boston.

I think Lee is probably our best overall SG, because of his size, scoring and defense.  I debated hard about whether Terry or Barbosa was 2nd best... I just assume Terry will get more minutes so I went with Terry.   I think Bradley is our 4th best SG at the moment.  I'm definitely in the minority there.  But this time last year, nobody would argue with me.

Once Doc gets the lineups down I think these guys will be the ones winning games for us in the Heat series (as I've said).

Our core has proven that they can go right up there and compete neck in neck their core as evidenced that 7 game series (while they had no Bosh, Pierce clearly was limping last year, plus we tied the season series last year).

And for all you lashing out on Green, I feel like you'll be crow eating.

Fourth quarter showed that he can be a nice scorer off the bench.

But his play before then wasn't very good, poor defense cost the C's several wide open shots in the first half.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He's a below average defender and is often quite horrid defending the pick n roll.
He has a tendency to go into 'rage mode' and completely ignore teams offensive sets when he's feeling it.Drove Indiana crazy. The big difference is that if we can get him on the floor with Rondo he can run and run and dominate teams in transition.

He had a great game tonight, but believe me, there will be plenty of games where you watch him and start pulling your hair out because of his selfishness particularly in 2 or 3 vs 1 situations.

I'm a fan of his but don't get too excited just yet.
I will not deny he was a bargain though.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I thought he looked tough and was made to play with Rondo and run the floor.

When Barbosa plays like this, he's very valuable.

When his shot isn't falling, though, he doesn't do a lot of other things to help his team win.

Barbosa is an excellent value, and should be a nice addition to the team.  He's not going to play similar to this every night, though.

He is a streaky player, but when he is on, he is ON.  Basically, I think he is a rich man's Eddie House.  I think he is going to be a very valuable guy at the bottom of the rotation, whose minutes will vary depending on matchups and whether he is locked in or not on a given night.

If he's going to be this good, why was he available at the last minute for the vet. minimum?  NBA GMs must be stupid.  Someone should offer LarBrd33 a job.
