Dirtiest player in the NBA calls it a punk play = hilarious. This guy is so transparent it's ridiculous. The most surprising development of the Miami Cheat era is that Wade has become completely unlikable and his true colors have shown through, he has me almost liking Lebron at this point.

Agreed. I used to like wades game and attitude. Now he's almost unbearable to watch. Not just with dirty plays but with his game play in general. The amount of times I said "what is wade doing?" Last night during the game was uncountable. He single handedly allowed the celtics to climb back into the game by playing one on one in the 4th up 15 and jacking up in assisted shots with 17 or 18seconds on the shot clock. It was very strange to watch.

Well it was a punk play.  Game is essentially over at that point and Rondo let his frustration with the loss spill over into a stupid punkish foul.  Frankly he is lucky they didn't tag him with a flagrant 2, eject him and suspend him a game.  Rondo needs to grow up and not let his emotions control him.

Also to be clear, I agree with pretty much everyone that thinks it is funny coming from Wade given his antics every season, but it still doesn't change the fact that it was a punk play by Rondo and quite stupid really.

Also, why did people ever like Wade?  I'm confused by that.  He has been a prick pretty much since he arrived in the league.  He has always been dirty and has always set the tone for that team (at least until the end of last year when he finally realized that Lebron was better than he was and the team should get behind Lebron).  I mean I get why people don't like Lebron, but Lebron has always been a consummate professional on the court.  He plays the game the way it should be played.  So does Bosh, but not Wade he is as dirty as they come and right there with our very own Kevin Garnett in that regard.

Wade gets what is coming to him. He doesn't respect anybody. Wait till you see what the Pacers have in store after what he did to Collison in the playoffs last year.

Reposting to fan the flame-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fre_SGtycBM

in which Wade tackles Rondo to keep him from a loose ball, dislocating his elbow.

Rondo doesn't have a lot of flagrant fouls or trash talking in his book. He mostly keeps quiet. Wade, on the other hand, has one of the best dirty-play highlight reels on youtube. I'm sad that Wade got under Rondo's skin last night, but if Wade keeps doing what he's doing he'll provoke a lot of hard fouls and eventually get himself hurt again... maybe cost himself an NBA championship too

While I don't remember the Celt that was involved (Green or Lee I think) the dirty play of the night went to Wade for undercutting our player when he was in the air and near the rim.

Flagrant 2, really. For starters, that foul wasn't even that bad. Then, if the game was "essentially over" (and pretty much everyone was standing around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the clock to expire), what was Wade doing driving to the basket? It's a pity there wasn't a bigger body waiting for him there. I'm thinking Howard, Bynum or one of them other punks.

It was Green - he'd just spun around Ray in his best drive of the night.  I remember because my wife yelled "Try not to land on your heart!"

Reverse it.  Say Wade does that to Rondo.  What is your reaction then?

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Wade is punk who pretends to be a prince. He is a dirty player the same way people view KG as dirty--they both get away with stuff that most people aren't proud of as fans and gets into the other teams heads. Its time for people to start calling him out just like the league has with KG over the last few seasons.

Certainly won't be calling for a Flagrant 2, that's just silly. And if Rondo's trying to score a layup when the other team is taking the proverbial knee, he'd probably have it coming to him just as well. To my satisfaction, the Celtics have conducted themselves with a little more class in such situations so far.

Yeah I'm completely agreeing with Koz here. Wade seemed to be looking to pad his stats at the end of the game. Punk play? Yeah maybe, he got him with a soft horse collar. But no way did it warrant a flagrant 2. No need to be driving to the bucket there.

Kinda wish it had been strong enough to be on the borderline between Flagrant 1 and Flagrant 2.

Wade is not worth missing any games over, even in October. But it was hard enough to send a message, and I liked that.
