  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Ray Allen will always be a Celtic- doesn't matter what anyone here or on TV, the internet or print media says. Ray said it himself- he'll always be a Celtic.

Without him we wouldn't have banner 17. We'd be tied with the Lakers as they go into a new era with yet another new super team.

The Boston-Ray relationship may have soured a little, and Ray's ego and mind feel as young as ever, unfortunately his body doesn't agree.

People are talking about him 'losing' the finals for us. Gimme a break. He kept us in the finals with that monstrous effort in the same series.

The finals before that he destroyed everyone we came across and he stretched the floor so much for Pierce to go to work against Lebron and then Radmanovic and KG to take Gasol in the post.

He drained those threes against the Bulls in the 09' playoffs when KG was out.
He drained those threes against the Knicks in the 2011 playoffs to win the game.
He drained that three against the Heat last season in game 2 to tie it up, sending us to overtime and giving us a chance.

Remember when he hit that three to break Reggie's record and hugged Reggie?

How many of the above and other moments left you standing up in your living room or a bar or a buddies house going bananas and screaming with relief and excitement because Ray had made a clutch play or hit a huge three and saved the day. Mr reliable was always there.

Those mentioned are just a few off the top of my head.
He was on the floor at pretty much every crucial moment during this current Celtics team.
If you're going to let him leaving for the Heat at age 37 get to you like he's Lebron James leaving Cleveland or he's 'stabbing us in the back' a then perhaps think about the dedication, hard work, blood, sweat and tears that he gave Boston for all those years and put us at the top.

Don't buy into everything that's reported. Some of it's true, some of it's not.
At the end of the day we are probably better off without Ray at this point. I know I wouldn't want him for $6 million when I can have Jason Terry who's happy as a sixth man for $5 million at this point in their careers.

Step back and have a little perspective on all the joy and happiness that Ray Allen brought to you as a Celtics fan for 5 years.
We'll be lucky if we get to witness a Celtics team this good again within the next 20 years, and Ray Allen is one of the main reasons we've experienced such an amazing ride.

As he says himself, Ray Allen will always be a Celtic.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

What a bunch of BS. An insult to his previous team. If he gets a ring from Miami he'll always be a Heat.

Always a Celt? Sure. Add that to the pile of alternate reality. Why not

Not to me, Ray Allen is like school at 4 o'clock in the morning, NO CLASS!

Loyalty is easy to talk about but deeds betray it sooner or later.

I'm very appreciative of Allen's time here.  I was a supporter and fan of his.  I dont wish him less than.

Ray Allen will be one for the history books, but I will never consider him to be a true Celtic.

It is an insult to KG and Pierce to say that Allen is on the same level as they are--they are true Celtics.  KG and Pierce embody real Celtics heart and soul.  An absolute insult to compare Allen to the Captain and KG.

Ray's career path is to stick it to the Celtics.  How can you be a "true" Celtics when you were a defector to the enemy for less money and then ran your moth while the whole C orginization kept it classy...

Not to me he's not.

Deciding to stick it the Celtics because of sour grapes burned his bridge (talk about a "consummate professional").

HI appreciate what he gave us. A championship and what not. But there are things that could ruin that.

Him going to the Heat is fine. But him going to the Heat for less playing time and less money, when he's asking Boston to give him more of those, AND C's WERE WILLING TO GIVE IT TO HIM BTW, and still went to Miami, that's a "screw you" move, and that's not appreciated.

Mods, this poll may be suitable to merge with the current thread entitled: "Ray Allen 'I will always be a Celtic'. And I agree."

My vote is NO, absolutely not.

Allen urging the fans to boo the (CELTICS)team and not him for his leaving the team in one of his recent interviews this week with the Miami media was the final nail in his coffin (proverbial or otherwise)for me.

That statement he made, to me, is tinged with an admission of culpability and regret.

To paraphrase the Bard: "Methinks thou dost protest too much.." Judas.

Contrast what Ray's said and done to Kevin "I'll re-sign with the Celts or retire" Garnett.

i disagree. He burned his bridges when he left. i was holding my breath when he first went for a workout with miami that he's still stay with Boston. But, upon seeing him eating and smiling with satan (riley) and lucifer (spoelstra), i gave up hope. I just knew that he'd leave us for the morons of Miami.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Just like he'll always be a Sonic or a Buck or a Heat.

Ray's going to be remembered as a vagrant player. Nothing wrong with that, but it just is.

I'm not sure he played here long enough for that. And that's not just a slap at him because I don't think guys like Bill Walton are "true" Celtics. You must play for years or win more then one ring.

I have been much too busy justifying RA.  His statements, especially him saying that his two older female fans in their Celtics Ray Allen jerseys don't belong in Miami turned me right around.  Bye, Ray.  No loyalty to fans was the  straw...loyalty is always a two way street.

  • Ashy To Classy, baby.
Real question:

Who's number is more likely to be retired; Ray's or Toine's?
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Try telling that to KG...

The magnitude of his decision is far too much. Imagine a very notable general during the American civil war that was for the North switch sides to the South simply because he thought that the Confederates had a better chance of winning. He fought hard for his cause and showed great leadership, but in the textbooks, he will always be remembered as a traitor and a coward.

I never get when people say this. You're sentimental, I guess I get that. Thing is, he isn't a Celtic NOW... I mean, on Tuesday I'm pretty sure he's planning on wearing a Heat jersey.

... is this some kind of zen coan? He is heat... he is Celtic... we are all Celtics while we are all not Celtics

I used to love Ray Allen. Goooood times. Then we broke up. All my divorced guys- you loved your ex-wife, right? Do you go around nowadays saying stuff like "I will always be your husband?"

I'm rooting against Ray Allen. Does that mean I'm rooting against the Celtics? I'm so confused.

... wait wait Ray is a celtic. Ray is teammates with Dwyane Wade. Is Dwyane Wade a Celtic? I'M SO CONFUSED
