Allen gave us all the big middle finger with a lot of thrust behind it.

All this garbage he is spewing is self-rationalization and spin to try to make himself not look petty, spiteful and vindictive both to the public and himself. He might be fooling himself but I am not sure how many others are being fooled.

Huh?  What has he said about the fans?

He took it personally that the C's tried to trade him, gave someone else "his" starting spot, and didn't make him the top priority to resign.  Understandable, he has always had a huge ego (it is part of what made him great).

But he has always been great to the fans.

Really? Is this where we're going? The ole "he hasn't done anything to me personally" line? Sorry Charlie. You mess with one of us, you mess with the whole family!!! And you should know better. You disrespect the franchise, you you lose the fans. That's it.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

I'm pretty surprised with these comments from Ray. Guess the gloves are off. Hope he likes being marginalized in Miami.

I bet him and Rashard Lewis are sitting around playing boo-ray talkin bout all those open game winning shots they won't make. Maybe Ray will tell shard about how back when he was a teenager, all they had was pong to play, and high top fades were really cool, not just ironically cool.

He's a weasel, spoiled, spiteful coward.

Just heard Judas on  Comcast sportsnet Tonight blaming the team for "putting him in that situation."

He said something to the effect of "They (the fans)should be booing the team, not me."

I don't think he ever expected this type of backlash, and he doesn't like it. If you can't take the cHeat, Allen, get out of the kitchen known as South Beach.

I don't have a problem with Ray leaving. Quite frankly he won't really be missed this season. What i do have a problem with is saying that the Celtics organization didn't treat him right. I know i wasn't exactly an eye witness to everything that went down but Doc made him a focal point of the offense for the past 5 years, He was golfing with ownership on the regular and was offered an appropriate contract the two times he entered in to free agency. I have a hard time figuring out where the hurt feelings come from. So what if you're involved in some trade talks when the team is struggling? Cry me a river. I just really don't know what more management could have done for the guy. He's a 37 year old shooter with bum ankles and he was mad because we wouldn't give him 9 mill per season? Just go away.

I think a lot of Rays contract concerns are related to KG's courtship. That's all speculation though. Ray knew he wasn't on equal footing there, and didn't like it.

Now Ray says he wasn't allowed in Boston to do what he wanted to, get in the post. He says his teammates wanted to be there instead am I reding that last line right?! wow

Quote
One of the areas the Heat could possibly use Allen is in the post. It was a big part of his game during the early portion of his career before he became identified mostly as a jump-shooter. Allen said he often pleaded with Celtics coach Doc Rivers to play more in the post, but it was not part of the plans.

"In practice, I always posted up," Allen said. "I just could never convince my coach to allow me go down in the post. He was always telling me he wanted different matchups. I've had so many matchups in the post throughout the years. It gives me a different scoring angle. It takes pressure off having always to shoot 3s."

Playing in the post would force teams to rethink their strategies of defending Allen. Opponents generally place a smaller defender on Allen because his tendency to run off screens and tire bigger players. The presence of a post game all but eliminates the possibility.

"What teams try to do is when they want a guy to chase me they bring a small guy that's quick," Allen said. "So you roll to your next stunt and you post them and get them out of the game. The way we play here just creates so many different opportunities. You put the other team in so many complicated situations that it forces their defenses to play more uncomfortable."

Although Allen rarely played in the post the past five seasons, he doesn't expect rust to play a factor. He would often practice just in case the Celtics' offensive strategy changed.

"If I knew I had a smaller opponent, I always practiced after practice, before practice, I'd always go to the post," he said. "Before games, I'd always post up. It wasn't like I wasn't working on it or I was able to do it. Coach wasn't focused on that positioning. A lot of my teammates were always like, 'Man, put me in the post."'

He cant do that anymore...

But he did it when it mattered...

And the result was an improbable Game 4 win on the road.

Ray Allen stepped up.

We lost THAT game, and the series is 2-2. We went on to lose Game 5, anyway - once Perk got hurt.

BOS won 66 games that yr, and won Banner 17, but we were VERY close to losing some key games..

Glad that Ray pulled us out in THIS one - perhaps the most important one.

If "diehard fandom", whatever, causes some/most of us to hate Ray Allen, then I guess, from their perspective - it's ok.

It is Celticsblog.

But for me(and I suspect a few others), I'll never forget his contributions to this team.

Terry is a better fit and a better player. I'm more upset that we offered ray 6 mil a year than I am seeing ray turn down that offer. Shoulda let him walk with no offer.

First part is addressed to you, second part is addressed to Ray Allen. Should make sense to you now.
