We are so deep it feels like Christmas... the irony, Christmas couldn't make the cut...
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I remember "Shaq's preseason", when we had best-of-the-best-of- the-best team first half of season. Then Perk's trade and Shaq's injury corrected universe a little ;D

So don't be overexcited again, let's relax and wait at least season :)

I think we'll be seeing less of Rondo through the season (which is good), and we'll be seeing a bit more of Lee as a SF.

I really don't know how Doc will make the minutes work in all honesty. But a good problem to have, unless it causes locker room unrest.

I think one of the best things about signings like this is that they show how well-respected Danny and the front office are around the league.

Veterans seem to really feel that this is a good organization to be part of, even if we don't offer the most money or minutes.  That's great news long-term no matter how Barbosa works out for us.

I thought that Toronto - a lot like Indiana - mis-used Barbosa (exclusively as a two guard instead of as a PG/SG) and that that played a large factor in his poor play there.

As did the Raptors lack of shot creation / high caliber offensive talent which saw several player's shooting percentages decline because nobody could draw a double team. Resulting in fewer open shots / opportunities and an increase in more difficult contested shot attempts.

When Barbosa was used properly -- as Calderon's primary backup + some playing time alongside Calderon + importantly, receiving zero playing time alongside Bayless -- Barbosa actually played well for the Raptors. Unfortunately, those moments were few and far between.
This all may be true but the main thing i notice is that Barbosa is far better in a run and gun/fire up the shots offense like he used to have in Phoenix.

I'd like to see Rondo down around 34mpg during the regular season.

Barbosa and Terry actually average exactly the same steals (1.4) and turnovers (2.2) per 36 minutes over their careers.

Where did you get those numbers? They aren't accurate. You are right that Terry and Barbosa have very similar career numbers in those categories, but they are not exactly the same according to any basketball stat site I can find.

In any case, maybe I wasn't clear enough in my post, I was specifically referring to Barbosa's recent seasons in Toronto/Indiana. His turnover rate last season was 3.5 per 48 minutes, which is pretty abysmal. He was 2.9, 2.9, and 2.8 the seasons before that. Discounting his rookie campaign (because that's not fair), his Phoenix averages were around 2.5-2.6, just under the league average. Basically, if he can play like he did in Phoenix, I will be happy, but if he is turning the ball over as he has the past couple seasons he will have a net NEGATIVE impact on our team.

As for Terry, he turned it over 3.1 times per 48 minutes the past two seasons. Which is still bad. The years before that, he was averaging around 2.2ish per 48, which is great.

In any case, Terry's turnover rate the past couple of seasons is bad, and I hope he is better about that this season. Unlike Barbosa, though, Terry makes up for it with consistently good defense (gets steals, doesn't foul ... barbosa gets steals but fouls a LOT ... last season 5.1 times per 48 minutes! And 4.3 per 48 for his career. League average for a wing player is around 3.5. Terry has averaged 2.9 fouls per 48 for his career, and last season was a stellar 1.7).

Actually, Terry-Barbosa is a good comparison (statistically, not in terms of play-style). Basically, Barbosa is just a less consistent version of Terry ... his averages are approximately the same, but he has had a couple of bad seasons in a row, and hopefully he bounces back the other way.

Those numbers can be found at basketball-reference.com.

EDIT: Barbosa didn't have a high TO rate his first season in Toronto.  The only times he really had a TO rate higher than his career average were his first two seasons in Phoenix and the 1st 2/3 of 2011-2012 in Toronto.  His TO rate was slightly below his career average for the 22 games he played with Indiana.  You'd have to look into whether or not the TOs earlier last season could be due to injury or the lockout.

This is nothing but another trade bait and I like it.  Danny is doing a very good job here.  Josh Smith is going to be here in January

Josh Smith would be nice for sure; but Bass, Wilcox and Barbosa are not going to get it done. You will have to give up Bradley or Green. If you are saying that Barbosa could fill in for Bradley if he is traded then yes you may have a point although I am not sure that Bradley is not more valuable than Smith in the long run.

Solid signing.  I like Barbosa.

Danny is acquiring a lot of mediocre/solid assets.  Maybe he can package some of them for an impact player like Josh Smith.

I don't dislike any of his signings. At this point, I just don't totally understand this roster.  I've been saying that for a while now.  Having 5 good shooting guards doesn't equal 1 elite shooting guard.  Right now we have lots of players... I don't get how they fit yet.

It's fun to get excited about Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee, Jason Terry, Jeff Green and Leandro Barbosa... but only a total homer wouldn't trade the whole lot of em for Dwight Howard.  It's too bad the NBA is a 5 on 5 game.  If we were allowed to play 12 players at once, we'd have a darn good team.

Barbosa is not really the kind of player you package in a deal for a near-max player.  His contract is neither big enough nor long enough.  He is, however, the sort of player you might flip for a pick and/or young player that you would them put in a deal for an impact player, probably in the off-season.

Trading Barbosa may be the result of Bradley being completely healthy and also completely awesome.  It may also be the result of the Celtics' season coming crashing down and Ainge getting whatever he can for anyone with an expiring contract.
