Well to be fair, I did post the message below a few days before this thread:

Are we so certain that Dooling won't return? I know he said things to the contrary, but so did Sheed. However, if he does stay true to his word Barbosa is a name that hasn't been mentioned. I realize he isn't a true 1, but he and Terry could share ball handling duties on the second unit. Plus, his uptempo fastbreak style seems like a perfect fit to how Doc wants to play. And instead of adding one player (Terry) that can breakdown the D and create his own shot, we add two. I say give him the remaining exception and call it a day.

I still don't think this is a very good situation for Barbosa, but it's a great thing for the C's.

And that's all I care about.

That's true.  However, there's a very good chance that he wouldn't be part of a playoff rotation and there's even a chance he could not be on the active roster most of the playoffs (if Doc elects to have 6 big men).  Does a ring mean that much if you don't contribute much to it?

I don't know.

I haven't read any comments from him yet but I wonder if its just a matter of us pursuing him and no other contender making a phone call?

Plus in Barbosas mind he probably thinks he can still compete for minutes with any of our guards which is true to an extent although it would certainly be a steep hill to climb.

I don't know.

Another versatile multi-position player who WILL play significant minutes as players get injured or need rest throughout the year.  How it will play out in the playoffs is too far off to even consider. He will deifinitely have the chance to earn his place on the playoff roster.

When Rondo / Bradley are out you can run:

Terry + Lee
Barbosa + Lee
Barbosa + Terry

When Bradley comes back is less clear what his role is. Rather have a PG; but we have such limited trade chips will probably have to wait till January.

Reporter – Excluding Boston deal, were you negotiating with other team in the NBA?
LB – I was negotiating with the Lakers, it was close to happen. The problem was they would have to waive 2 guys to get space for me in their payroll and just God knows how it would happen. It wouldn’t happen so fast, my agent talked to Boston and I came here.

SUCK IT, LAKERS!  GREAT MOVE (by default if it screws L.A.)

Interesting interview btw. Looks like he will be the primary backup to Rondo.

Also, do you think he was brought in to help Fab (both from Brazil)?

ya, I thought that was interesting that they want Barbosa to be the ball-handler..

but I think it makes sense..by making terry be the primary ball-handler/playmaker you are kind of stifling his scoring abilities

in hte first few pre-season games he looked a little hesitant to just go in and be agressive
