very very encouraging to see.

When i saw him yesterday pass a screen set, move to the middle of the three point line and with no pressure on him, nail a three pointer i was very happy. Did two things very well.

1. limited arm movements before release. Also release point was nice and high. Looks like his body is straighter from feet to head, shoulder to his arms. Definitely better than all of his herky jerky arm movements and body twisting shooting of last year. Pretty amazing he was as accurate as he was, not having a good shooting stroke.

2. Taking the correct shot. Rondo in the past would pass up numerous 20 ft jump shots and pull a indiana jones to make  nice but unnecessary passes close to the basket.

anyone else optimistic?

He has been improving every year and hopefully if he can just keep doing the top two things i listed above , finally at crunch times, team won't able to play sag defense on him.

Watch Pierce against Terry in their 3 pt contest, Pierce looked horrible, anyone else worried.

nope. PP has been an excellent consistent shooter ever since day 1. Not likely he will lose his touch even in the next 2 to 3 years.

Pierce looks great. Slimmer than the last 3 years. Maybe its bc of his body change, he needs time to fine tune his shooting ways

Love it.

Looks like he's been working on it this summer.

I haven't seen any of the preseason games but I thought Rondo's form last year was world's better than in the past. The OP mentions a herky jerky form from last year. Two years ago maybe. Last year his form was much better and like what the OP was describing that he saw in the preseason games.

Shhhh, don't jinx it.

It is like a no hitter in baseball, don't say it out loud but yes, you know who had a very good looking you know what in the first two preseason games.

If he keeps it up, league look out.

I have made many  offerings and prayers to the basketball gods to allow ROndo to have  a nice medium jumper.

Please ....let it be so ::)

He's always shown flashes like that.  It's been about consistency with him for a while.

The problem is it's a lot harder to get in a rhythm when you're just passing up open shots.  I hope this is finally the year he starts taking more of them.  It doesn't matter if they go in or not.  Westbrook bricked tons of shots early in his career, but eventually he got the defenses to play him.  That's what Jason Kidd did, et al.  That's what Rose was beginning to do.  That's what Rondo needs to do.

Seeing him taking all those shots with the defender going under the screen was encouraging.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

How's Rondo do with his free throws?

Nail *that* and he's elite. Nail that *and* get a consistent jump shot and he's close to the best player in the NBA.

This. I'll get excited when it lasts for more than half a dozen of game.

Rondo looks extremely confident knocking down the outside jumper. Makes me feel giddy.

Rondo strikes me as a stubborn kid. Would be funny to have him suddenly have picture-perfect release now that Ray Allen is gone.
