This is something that I've been pondering about for the past few days. I've just noticed the latest forum topics haven't been really Celtics related so I figured this would be an intriguing discussion.

Who is our fourth most valuable player?

I feel like this is something that can go in so many other directions because there are so many options for our fourth most valuable player. BTW, I apologize if there was already a thread on this I was never sure if there was or not.

Anyway, we all know our three most valuable players in no specific order are Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo. What I'm wondering is, who comes next?

Is it Jeff Green? A combo forward who, if his potential is realized, could be a very lethal weapon for this team?

Is it Jason Terry? A proven scoring punch who has embraced being a Celtic who thrives off the bench?

Is it Avery Bradley? A shutdown combo guard who has shown he is capable of fitting in an offense and running the floor?

Is it Brandon Bass? A pick and pop player who has shown he's a capable one-on-one defender and a consistent jump shooter?

Or is it someone else? A case could be made for Courtney Lee or Chris Wilcox. You could even make a case that Darko could become our 4th most valuable player. You decide!

I'd say it's very close, between Terry and Bradley; with the edge to the Jet.

His ball handling, and automatic/ consistent offense will win us many games; not to mention his vet. leadership.

Bradley, on the other hand... His defense/ athleticism will win us games, also, but his offense needs consistency. Don't forget that he's still developing, too.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I voted for Jeff Green just because he can work in both our small ball lineups and our big lineups. He brings great energy and has shown he can cover (not necessarily shut down) explosive threes. I'm excited to see what he can do this year.

I voted for Terry, but I definitely see each of those other guys making a case for himself.  That's clearly a good thing.

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

i voted bradley because i think he will show glimmers of his future, being a team's number 1 scoring option in a couple years.

It could quite easily be green or terry or lee, or even sullinger by the end of the year.

It's unlikely that the 4th best player in the first month will be the 4th best by playoffs.

If jeff green somehow supplants pierce as starter, he would be the 3rd best.

For me right now it has to be Bass based on his time with the team and consistency. The others are just speculative and havent proven anything in a Celtics uniform yet. I would add that the Bradley and Green sample size is just too small to be conclusive at this stage IMHO.

I added Courtney Lee, because he will be our starter on day 1 likely.

I am having a hard time with this myself, but ultimately, it's probably Jason Terry. He will likely get the second most minutes in the backcourt, and he will be critical in holding and extending leads while the starters sit. Ideally it would be Avery Bradley, but I have a hard time saying that when he won't play til after Christmas.

I'd say, it's a tossup between G8 and JET. Both are booked to play major roles for us and could replace anyone who is ahead of them (G8 replacing Bass not PP) and we would be fine! While Bassgod is important, G8 could replace him, and I look for him to be better than Bassgod when he's coming off the bench anyway! JET could replace AB or Lee (even though I think AB will be huge if he is close to what he was second half last season)! I voted for G8 in the poll because he is behind 1 person at the 3 and he is a good 4 (despite what people say)... JET has a few players who we could plug into his spot as a last resort (RR can handle more mins than PP easily).

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Jason Terry, little doubt about it. He's filling a huge hole scoring wise a la Ray.

Maybe if Green/Bradley/etc have a break out season, but otherwise, Terry will be crucial to our team.

I like Marcus Smart

Terry the scoring is needed as some of you pointed here
but an inspired Jeff can kick behind ( he has to prove a lot to me yet)

I'm picking Lee.  I think he'll provide a consistent scoring option and solid defense.

Actually, I changed my vote to Keyon Dooling, for not coming back.

That was important for my mental well being.
