I know that it will be easy to root against Rasheed Wallace this year when the Knicks come around- he is, after all, a notorious provocateur (which is a nice way to say he's a goon). He'll only need a few minutes on the floor to get under the skin of Chris Wilcox or Darko Milcic.

But until then, I'm going to be rooting for him big time. His tenure in Boston was weird with a capital "W," but I enjoyed having another smart, skilled, defensive-minded, and little bit nasty nasty big man in the KG mold. Who knows what kind of shape Sheed is going to be able to get himself into at age 38 after a recent history of conditioning problems. I love comeback stories, though, and as I get older I increasingly love to see old men work their way back on the court and show value against the ultra-athletic kids.

What about you guys? Will you be happy to see Wallace on the court again?

Come to think of it, Sheed probably won;t make it past training camp. Nothin to see here, folks.

But if he does physically make it back on the court, or bench or whatever, I will be very happy. Can't say I'll be rooting for him, but as I said in another thread, Sheed is the type of player that needs to be in the NBA, solely based on personality.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I'm a Duke fan. So I couldn't stan this guy even before he was in the NBA. And then when he got in the NBA I liked him even less if that's possible. The ONLY time I had any respect for him was game 7 vs the Lakers. Other then that he's human basketball trash.

I thought Rasheed could have given a bit more when he was a Celtic.  Although he did play his best in the playoffs and managed not to miss significant time to injury.
Which If you believe what people were saying about how bad his ankles were his time here was a success.

Good Luck Sheed

So adding Sheed now makes the Knicks the oldest team currently in the league and possibly the history of the NBA. lol

I actually like Sheed and I hope he gets some success.

A lot of people complain about Sheed's game when he was with us, and while his shooting may not have been what it used to be he really played some solid defense for us down low...and his ability to hit the three at his size (inconsistent as he was) forced opposing teams to run out to the perimeter and contest it.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Hope he does well, but I bet it'll be something closer to what Kurt Thomas has been bringing the last year or so.

But my beef with the Knicks is with ownership and Melo. Everyone else on the roster I'm mostly a fan of.

Well, except Felton, and JR Smith. And kind of Jason Kidd. I guess most of the Knicks I liked are kind of gone. Fields, Lin, Gallo, Wilson Chandler...

Well I like STAT.

I'd take Kurt Thomas over Wallace any day.  Thomas hustles his butt off and takes shots that he can make.  Wallace was over the hill several years ago.  He won't contribute.

If Sheed can still D up 5s and play smart team defense, plus hit that 15 ft turnaround J, he's a much bigger asset than Kurt Thomas has been for the last 2 years or so.

Sheed was a beast for us against Orlando and the Fakers that year. I wanted him to win with the Celtics, and when there were rumors of him unretiring, i was hoping for him to come back and help to get #18.

I'll root for him unless he's playing our team.

He's 38 and third or fourth oldest on the team, and bleacher report (they are fools) call us old

Me too.  I liked Sheed.

Good luck, Sheed!
