Anyone remember LBJ's first game back in Cleveland? Players complained that they couldn't even hear each other because of the booing whenever LBJ touched the ball. I felt like my TV was shaking.

Probably won't be that bad.

Should Darko be cheered if he knocks Ray out of the game with a flagrant foul?  I say: yes.

I don't know...  Should Heat fans have cheered when Wade knocked Rondo out of the game with a dislocated elbow?

I say no.  Beat the Heat, but beat them cleanly.

Agreed.  With that said, I want Darko hitting Lebron and Wade very hard when they come into the lane.  I am not going to cheer for them to get hurt...but I think they are different players if they get knocked down a few times.

Hard fouls, yes, but on the ball fouls.  No head-hunting or trying to take guys out in mid-air.

I can care less about Ray Allen, Miami or whether fans want to boo or not. Ray's gone. He tarnished his own legacy and reputation with his own doing. Fans don't need to stoop low just to prove a point or show disdained for Ray, but if fans decide to boo I wouldn't be mad.

Then again, this picture above might irritate Celtics fans even more. If Ray wants to tailgate with Miami's Three Stooges, then so be it.

TP. The fact Ray has gone to the Heat ruins his chance of retiring as a Celtic legend. If he doesn't care about that, why should we care about him? Let him enjoy his role in South Beach.

I'm over it, and I'd love to see a standing ovation for the Ray in green showing on the Jumbotron in case they make a video tribute. The Ray dressed in the cHeat uniform is not that important, and, in my opinion, the best thing Celtic fans could do is ignore him, while cheering loudly for the players in green. They are the important guys, our guys.

And about hard fouls, I hope Wade hits the deck several times every time he plays the Celtics. LeBron, Bosh, Chalmers, Allen... beat them cleanly, as Roy says. But Karate Hamster deserves some "good playoff hard fouls". No injury intended, of course, but our players have been beaten (literally) over the last 4 years by injury and by dirty opponents (Dwight and his elbows, Kobe and Bynum against Perk, Karate Hamster against Rondo). Darko/Collins seem the right men to protect the rim and instill some respect for the Green men.

Go Celtics!

I hope not, but it only takes a small % of Garden fans to make it seem like the crowd is cheering (same with booing).

I am not a fan of booing Ray Allen.  If I were there, I'd probably show through silence what I feel about him being a member of the Heat -- indifference.

I disagree.

I still see number 20 in the rafters, 10 years from now.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I hope Darko gives Wade a good shot on opening night.  Wade has no problem handing out cheap shots any time he gets frustrated, so I have no problem if he gets a Darko elbow to the face after he grabs a rebound and Wade tries to reach in for a steal.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander ;)

we should focus more on beatin miami
rather than finding just the right
moment to beat up wade..plus that kinda
dirty stuff will come back on us
worse...we reap what we sow...
and with this years squad we dont
need that kinda drama cuz out the gate
we will have our own problems

Well, I think what we saw in the 2010 playoffs is that the "no layups" philosophy can be very effective.  Its not about injuring players, or taking cheap shots.  It is about making a point that no one gets easy baskets on the Celtics.  And that can dramatically change the way other teams attack us, if they know that when they get in the lane, they are going to have to earn their points at the line, and pay for it by hitting the deck.

No. Ray contributed 5 great years of his career here, plus added a championship for us. Both him and the organization moved on their separate ways, probably both for the better. I dont care how he does in Miami, and I am more excited for Terry to take his role, but Ray was a huge part of the Celtics and my rooting for quite sometime, i have nothing against those memories.

It's a fine line.  "No layups" is a good rule.  "Dirty" is not.  "Dirty" will give Miami extra possessions and free throws via flagrants.  "Dirty" will get our players ejected.  We don't have any margin of error to be handing Miami extra points, or to be sacrificing our depth.

I think the Celtics will handle it the right way, though.  They know how to foul hard, and to play very physically, without crossing over into blatantly dirty.

Probably off topic, but can the players either wrap up LeBron and Wade or just let them shoot? I don't know of anything they do that drives me crazier than give a weak nudge to James when he's going to the hoop, all it does is give him free throws.

Hard fouls are okay as well.
