Ray Allen's first game back in the Garden is January 27

How do you think we should deal with this? Do we boo him or give him an applause for being a great Celtic during his time here?

I think the fans owe ray some respect, the guy was a class act and helped us win a championship. Sure there were issues within the team and the organization but the guy clearly didnt feel secure here anymore and took the best option he had. (Even though its with our eastern rivals)

Neither. If fans boo then it will look bad to the people who don't have a dog in the fight watching on TV. It could also give Ray some added motivation.

I'm not a Ray hater. I'm not happy with what he did but I don't hate him. I wouldn't cheer for him however because he turned his back on the team.

If it was me I'd have the Garden completely silent when his name was called. I'm talking dead silent in a strange and eerie kind of way. Kind of saying that you don't even exist to us anymore and we don't even acknowledge you. I think this would get to him more then booing him or yelling.

Now if he gets his stuff sent in the game then I'd let myself have some fun with it.
Peace through Tyranny

He got the last bit of thanks that he deserved from the fans in Game 6 of the ECF. The organization will do something nice, since they are classier than scumbag Judas; he gets no cheers from me, but I wouldn't tell anyone else what they "should" do, they'll have to look within and make their own decision.

i think there's a good chance he gets booed.  personally, i'm very conflicted.  all along i felt for him, i thought danny did him dirty trying to trade him after all he'd put in and how much he obviously wanted to be here, i kept saying i didn't blame him for wanting to leave.

but something snapped in me when he actually did it, it somehow became very ugly and personal.  i'm not saying there's any logic to it, i'm just telling it like i honestly felt it.  this is coming from a guy who has sided with just about every red sox player who has ever left, including damon and manny.

i don't think i will have the heart to boo him when he's announced, but i probably will every time he touches the ball after that.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think the Celtics should show a brief video, he should get a nice little ovation, and then he should boo the crap out of him everytime he touches the ball. And after Courtney Lee blocks his first jumpshot, we should cheer like fanatics.

I honestly have no respect for Ray anymore. This is a situation where he went to an absolute enemy. I agree with the silent treatment, it's definitely a better way to show disrespect. Because there's no excuse for joining the enemy.

Agree.  Thank him for his service and thereafter he's the enemy.

Give him a brief "thank-you" for his role in #17, then treat him like any other Miami Heat player, (guess that includes booing, haha), and shut him down with defense while kicking Miami's butt. Let's keep to the classy side, and let our playing make the statement.

I'm gonna cheer. We would be tied with LA if it were not for him. Sure, he went to our rival/ this year's champions/ the least respected team in the league/ the 2nd dirtiest team in the league (to us).

But he's done more for our franchise positively, than negatively, by a mile.

I only hate that he went to Miami of all places. Not cool man. But when he retires, I'll most likely remember him for what he did for us during his stay in Boston, and as a CELTIC.

I was at the first Celtics game in which Leon Powe played as a Cav in 09-10, and I''l admit it, I shed a few tears (I was flahing my Powe jersey, too, like I do at every game  8)). There wasn't a montage, or anything, but the crowd thanked him for what he did for our team, wholeheartedly. And the Powe situation just shows how harsh the league can be, especially Danny Ainge. Just food for thought.

Ray Allen is dedicated to his craft, and he gave us his all for five years, so show some respect, because the dude wouldn't have left such a great situation without a good reason.

He's an all time great C in my book, and he has my applause. Not in Miami by any chance, but in my hometown.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

TP.  I am totally with this point of view.  Hate indicates acknowledgment.  Total indifference would be my choice.  (Ray was my favorite Celtic, and now what I feel for him is mostly pity because I believe he made a mistake and I also believe he knows it.  But my biggest belief is that the Celtics have moved on for the better.)

I dont care what all the beatniks and hippies say. Peace on earth rah rah rah. "That Guy" just went out of his way to stick it to his former teammates, his former organization, and his former fans. I would ideally like an eerie silence but being that it's Boston that's not very realistic. So i say boo.

You reap what you sow buddy and i fully expect Boston to let him know how they feel about this type of betrayal.

Can't beat um so join um right ray? That defeatist attitude and lack of competitive fire belongs in miami. Up here we ride and die with our Celtics win or lose. Rain or shine.
