Looks like it will come down to Joseph, Christmas, and Smith to fight it out for the remaining spots.

Quote
Dooling's absence opens the door for one or more of their young players to make the roster during training camp and team president Danny Ainge said the team isn't looking to bring in another veteran.

"We probably won’t bring anyone else in," Ainge said. "We like our young guys. We like Kris Joseph and Dionte Christmas and Jamar Smith and they’ll be competing for that last spot."

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
High fives all around.

Guards: Rondo, Terry, Lee, Bradley
Forwards: Pierce, Green, Bass, Sullinger, Garnett, Wilcox
Centers: Darko, Collins, Melo

2 of 3 of Jabar Smith, Kris-Jo, and Christmas.

I bet its Christmas and Kris-Jo.

Kris-Jo? Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Can we make a push for KuJo, instead? Provided he makes the team, of course.

I wanted Ku-Jo but nobody was getting on the Ku-Jo train.

I'm gonna keep floating nicknames until someone picks them up full time, viral marketing style.

translation; there is no one out there good enough.  This is temporary until we can trade or a good enough one shakes out of a team.

Yup.  Pretty much what they have done over and over in Ainge's tenure.  Let the young guys get a shot early in the season, and then cut them loose to replace with veterans down the stretch.

Odd that Ainge says "the last spot" when we've got two available.  Doesn't mean much...or does it?  *ominous orchestral music*

My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

I wonder if Danny wants to keep an eye on the number of vet min contracts he signs to stay under the apron for the season.

Terry's our primary backup point now? More minutes for Rondo, and our 12 shooting guards?

I can dig it.

He might think "guard spot". We also have Kurz competing for a spot, who is not a guard.

Um, Joseph is not a guard either. Then it's also unclear what sort of spot the last spot is and who is competing for it.

Fun to speculate, but most likely it just means there is one more spot for a guard left. Even if we have three roster spots he is only going to keep one more guard. I think it very likely that we fill all 15 spots to start but cut one by mid December.

I also wouldnt be surprised to see us in the hunt for another long athletic wing or combo forward. Someone who has been around but has plenty left in the tank. A Tayshaun Prince type player to add later is what I am trying to say.

We have 2 spots left...

I think he probably misspoke when he said last spot. It's probably him forgetting to subtract Dooling off of the amount of players we have (like he knows Dooling is gone but forgot to subtract him from the spots filled at that moment).
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I think it's flexibility for a vet or two.  Amnesties etc.
