Its not exactly a gaping hole. Bradley and Terry are just as much of a point guard as dooling. Dooling was basically Eddie House with worse 3 point shooting and better defense

Oh, but it _is_ a gaping hole. Not because we don't have PGs, but because we don't have enough bodies. At least not enough to start the season.

On opening day, your backcourt consists of Rondo, Terry, and Courtney Lee.

Your third string PG/SG is either Smith or Christmas. And then you have no-one. This is simply not enough. Especially given we have no solid grasp of how long Bradley will be out, or what he will look like when he's finally back.

Yeah I guess that is a short rotation and projects Lee and Terry averaging 30+ a game which might not be ideal to start the season.

Wish we had a better grasp on Bradley situation. No idea when he will be able to come back and how much rust he will have. We (including me) are putting a lot of weight into a very young guy coming back from injury who is still fairly unproven

Worst case scenario, Bradley is out/hurt/unproductive.

In that case Lee is starting and our backup "PG" will be playing most of his minutes with Terry.

You need someone who can set up the offense, and is big enough to cross-match on D. Christmas fills the bill there in theory, but we will have to see what he really brings to the table.

But I think these other guys like Flynn, Bibby, Fisher etc. are all too small, and terrible defensively. Who covers Wade?

I know, but you have to consider it. He had surgery on both shoulders.

And I don't know that it would doom the season - Lee/Terry/Rondo can play 30-35 minutes each if healthy, and we are fine. The nightmare scenario only comes into play if one of those other three guys is also hurt.

Christmas? come on...he is a D leaguer who will never get off the bench if he makes the team. No chance he suddenly turns into a viable option at PG

Jonny Flynn is horrible.  He has a legitimate case for being called the worst point guard in the NBA.  The best point guards in the D-League last year would be better options than bringing in Flynn.

People complain that Doc over-values veterans and doesn't play rookies.  The attitude that Christmas has no chance of becoming a contributor because of his resume is an even worse over-valuing of "veteran-ness".

Pietrus.  I want the flexibility to trade Green or Lee or even Bradley without hamstringing our defensive wing depth.

I'm fine with Terry, Bradley, Lee at the point or a 10-day guy seeing spot minutes in the event of multiple injuries.

Fisher played for the Lakers and is one of the most annoying floppers in todays game, he plays ugly. Hes also not a top 10 player of all time like shaq is.

He's there when there's an injury, garbage time, or foul trouble.
Reliable to handle the ball, hit an open jumper, and keep the defense honest.

Fisher wont' accept that type role, otherwise he'd be a Thundercat again.

NO! When a top 10 player wants to sign with your team you say yes no matter if hes past his prime and played for LA, the situations not the same when the player in question is flopping derek fisher who is also way past his prime.

I would very much like to see TMAC come here for that exact reason - he can playe 3 positions (PG, SG, SF) and at this point in his career can probably even spend some time at PF if we go small.

Don't see it happening, but he'd be a perfect 'final piece' for the team.

NO! When a top 10 player wants to sign with your team you say yes no matter if hes past his prime and played for LA, the situations not the same when the player in question is flopping derek fisher who is also way past his prime.

Derek Fisher is also probably the worst defender at the 1 in the league. He's also likely not a better passer at the 1 than Christmas or Terry. He's not filling any of the needs we have.

Shaq played elsewhere for most of his career and left LA by choice. Neither is the case with Fisher.
