Pietrus Signing with NBA Team Soon?

Mickael Pietrus – one of the top NBA free agents remaining on the board – has been receiving an increased level of interest from teams as of late who are looking to add an experienced wing player to their roster.

According to a source close to the situation, suddenly, three NBA teams have shown major interest in the nine-year veteran and two of the teams seem very motivated to get a deal done.

According to the same source, Pietrus also has a strong overseas option on the table that contains an escape clause.

Pietrus, 30, had his right knee scoped in Boston this past summer to relieve him of the discomfort he felt during the 2011-12 season. That procedure was performed as a do-over to his first operation on the same knee a year earlier in France.

Wouldn't be upset either way. I doubt we can find anyone better now, but I can understand keeping the $$ for a mid-season pickup if needed.

Not sure why there would be any hate/dislike towards Pietrus...

He was a great locker room presence, great character, and a real competitor on both ends of the floor.
Add in the fact that he's played injured for the past 2 years.

Sure. Couldn't see spending alot on him, but he'd be the perfect piece as a last signing.
Can't stop, Rondo!

I think people are willing to roll the dice on Christmas, Joseph, or even Smith developing into a role-playing contributor that's less streaky than Pietrus.

I would have loved to have seen Pietrus last year without the knee issues and the head injury. I'm sure we would've seen a much different player.

Come on, Pietrus was injured last year (concussion + knee) but he put all his effort and actually was useful in meaningful minutes (remember an offensive rebound that lead to a three against Miami).

Scals wasn't able to contribute when Doc had to put him on the court (2009 playoffs), and Luke Harangody didn't sniff playing time, we already had an undersized power forward who chucked shots like there was no tomorrow in Big Lazy Davis (evil twin of that guy that played for us in the 2009 playoffs, you know, Big Baby).

Pietrus would be great if he's healthy, and he'd probably be a lot more consistent with his shot. While everybody loves Christmas, Pietrus has been there, done that. For the vet min., he'd be perfect.
