Per Boston Globe
Read on Hoopshype

Ben Wallace has decided to play one more year, but has no interest in returning to Detroit, due to the abundance of youth at that position.

I'd rather have Wallace any day over Jason Collins, but also rather have Wallace than he be on the Heat.

Perfect bench big that could come in and know his role, yet not cry about minutes until playoff time.
Can't stop, Rondo!

at this point I don't think Wallace is any better than Wilcox, but guess vet min contract an added depth wouldn't be bad?

I prefer Chris Andersen over Big Ben. Andersen can cover more ground defensively as help defender and get more out of his area rebounds than Ben Wallace can these days.

I want I want I want!!!! Gahhhh nevermind. If I'd have to choose between a rookie and Big Ben for a year, I'd have to go with Joseph or Xmas.

BUT I've just always wanted him on the C's, and he'd be perfect off the bench for a few mins a game. His rebounding efficiency is crazy good.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
You can never have enough veteran swagger.

Too bad you CAN have enough center depth.

Would rather get a small forward than him at this point.
I like Marcus Smart

I don't know exactly how he'd fit in on the roster, but I'd strongly consider it.  If you look at his per 36 minute averages, they aren't that far off from what they were when he was with Detroit the first time around.

While he certainly can't be expected to do what he did back then for 35 mpg, he still can play very good defense and rebound very well for 10-15 mpg a night.

I :-\

At 10-15 min per game?

Yes, sir.

I'd be happy with either Big Ben or Matt Barnes at this point..but I think Matt would serve us better though (KG, Wilcox, Bass, Sully, Fab, Jeff Green)...I think we are set with Bigs.

Yes. Ben Wallace would give us another tough, interior presence and would also be a good veteran player to have on our side vs the likes of Miami.

I say add him and Matt Barnes and cut Kris Joseph and Lloyd Christmas if need be.

Hell yes!!

KG is the only guy on our roster with NBA experience who is:

1. A shot blocking threat.
2. An aggresive rebounder

The next best shot blocker we have is probably Paul Pierce.

Jason Collins gives size and tougness, but there are only so many hard fouls you can give before you need to sit down.

Getting Ben Wallace would give us an elite rebounder and shotblocker with good strength and a big frame body who isn't afraid to take a beating inside.  He's game and demeaner are pure Celtic through and through.

I'd be much more confident with Wallace playing 15 mins then Collins...and bigs tend to be more injury prone and foul prone, so I don't mind having a little more depth then necessary at that position.

Plus between KG, Collins and Big Ben just imagine how much out young guys like Sullinger and Melo could learn about interior defense!

Oh look, it's a sighting of the calcified remains of the player that once was Ben Wallace.

Eh, and by the way, I'd rather have Maria Menounos for the veteran minimum as the 15th player -- better looks  ;D

Hell yes.

Just making sure: you realize you're getting the 2012 version of Ben Wallace, not the 2006 one, right?
