yeah that is the attitude, spend a first round pick on a project. I am sure Doc #18 has been elsuive. We are about the only team that will run our aging stars to the ground because we do not play rookies.
Folks like you would not have given Bradley or Steimsma a chance, and if DA had drafted DeAndre Jordan he probably would be out of the league by now.

While I agree with you, I have a theory on rookie play this year. IMO the Celtics have tried to emulate the Spurs franchise since the big three era began. Winning with defense, a great coach, one of the best big men, 3 player core, point guard becomes star as other stars age, the list goes on & on.
However, the Celts could never really draft impact players with their respective picks (like the spurs) until Avery came into play. I believe Doc's philosophy may have changed with Avery's play, and while Melo isn't exactly an impact player Sullinger definitely could be.
