I am actually really suprised is has not been picked up.  We would probably need to dump Wilcox to make room for him (or maybe Collins but I would keep Collins over Wilcox) but the Celtics would certainly meet the criteria of a veteran, playoff bound team.  I like that he has lost 14 pounds and claims to be dedicated to getting in shape.

Quote
Blatche cops to some immaturity over the course of his career in Washington and admits to conditioning issues that wound up getting him shut down last season. He says that he's rededicated himself to the sport, losing 14 pounds and working with mentor John Lucas to get his career turned back around.

Quote
If Blatche is going to succeed in creating a second chapter for himself, it will likely need to come on a veteran-dominated, playoff-bound team where he can play a specific role as a productive reserve. No real pressure, no real responsibilities, no real expectations. That's the realistic end goal. Who knows if he will make it there.

Although I agree with your sentiment (conflicted is the perfect word for it) he actually did have one year that was far from terrible (16 pts and 8 rebs or something like that).

If he really is looking for a veteran team with a respected coach, why not offer him a min salary.  I think at worst he will be better than Wilcox.

And there is a reason he is out there still.

There is no denying he has physical gifts that are wanted in the NBA.

And no team is looking to grab him.

That says alot about why he is still waiting for a phone call and why we do not want to see him in the Celtics locker room.

i think Blatche would be a pretty good starter on a good team, not saying he would start here, but i think he's good and wouldn't mind picking him up. but, i think we need another wing. maybe Terrence Williams but i'm pretty sure his behavior has been a problem aswell.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
read the news about him working with John Lucas to get back on track. That's a start. He also went back to his hometown Syracuse and did some charity work, to "get back to his roots" of some sorts.

I still believe that a veteran laden team will put his head straight and would be able to utilize his talents to full extent. I really have no problem having him here for the right price.

i agree. i remember when he played against us he played very well. he is a good mid-range jump-shooter. a good, not a great rebounder, and okay in the post. i think doc turn him into a really good player. i think in 20 minutes he can give us 9 points and 5 rebounds. i say sign him, if he's willing to take the vet min for like 2 years.

That's what I'm talking about. I understand his locker room issues, which is why it's a gamble. But I believe it will be held in check. With the coaching staff and the veterans we have and a no BS attitude and a winning mentality. But for level of talent the vet. minimum, why wouldn't we want to at least try?

The Celtics already have two big guys to teach the NBA game and how to play NBA defense.

They don't need a guy that doesn't listen to coaches and doesn't play defense as the counter point to KG.
