1. MIA
2. OKC
3. LAL
4. SAS
5. LAC
6. BOS

Not a bad placement by any means, but I think the Spurs and Clippers stayed put while the Celtics vastly improved. I'd put us 4th or 3rd.

Second in the east, not bad. The Clippers vastly improved their bench and after one season, Paul should be more comfortable, look out for the Clips.

yeah i'd take 3rd or 4th in the NBA, but i think we're better than SAS and LAC right now. its ok though they'll all see once the season starts. its cool cause boston likes playing as the underdog, doubt em all you want

Who did the clips get? I know they lost kenton martin, evans, and Nick young. Can't remember who they picked up. I guess a 35 year old billups coming off a major injury?

I thought they were vastly overrated last year. They have Chris Paul who is a superstar but I am not sold on Blake Griffin at all. I just don't like their team or coach very much at all, im thinking best case scenario is the same finish as last year, unless they dramatically improve. They were pretty lucky to get out of the first round.

They made plenty of additions for depth, though most of them have their downsides.

Lamar Odom: Has to re-prove himself.
Ronny Turiaf: Please.
Jamal Crawford: Apparently a ballhog and chemistry killer? Replaces Mo Williams.
Chauncey Billups: Re-sign. Fragile.
Grant Hill: "Getting up there" is an understatement.

Boston should be above the Clippers.

Other than that, I don't see much to qualm with.

I agree.  I think the Clips didn't really get much better.  And we got quite a bit better.

I also think we are better than San Antonio too.

If you project Blake as improving then I can see it.

Either way, I just can't wait for the Fall.

I'd put us above the Lakers, Clips and about even with the Spurs.  We're deeper than both LA teams.  Hard to argue with SA's success and Pop as their coach but I really like the depth of this team more than theirs.

(I actually like us better than Miami and OKC too -- the depth is key.  Provided everyone is healthy, I really like our chances this year against anyone.  Let's see how we do during the season)

everyones knock on us is that we're old too, except there are two older teams ahead of us on this ranking.

Believe it or not, in terms of average age, we're younger than MIA, LAC, LAL, and SAS. Of course, these rankings aren't adjusted for minutes played, but really, the only geezers we have left getting real minutes are KG, Pierce, and Terry.

Yeah, but KG, Pierce, and Terry are pretty important pieces of the equation.

The older players in Miami are all role players.  They won the championship without Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis would've won it without most of their other old guys.  Mike Miller had one great game and Battier is really their only old contributor.

I look at this as being pretty fair.  I'd put us ahead of the Clippers though.

Of all those downsides, you need for one or two of them to prove you wrong and their bench improves significantly. I'm not sure that most people view the Clippers as cynically as some of us here on Celticsblog do. They will be a good team, as much as it pains me to say it.

If you want real rankings that the ranker must "put his money where his mouth is" by then you need to see a Sportsbook's rankings.  Sportsbook.ag:

1.  MIA
2.  OKC
3.  LAL
4.  SAS
5a.  CHI
5b.  IND
7a.  BOS
7b.  LAC

I'll trust a sportsbook's rankings over some author trying to be bold/website trying to get hits any day.
