  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Here, each of the GMs representing a team in the Atlantic Division will provide an introduction / summary of their team, draft strategy, etc.  Other members should ask questions (directed to one or more GMs), and those GMs should attempt to answer the questions as well as they can.

For those participating, the opening blurbs can include some or all of the following:

1. Roster / depth chart
2. Statistics
3. Pictures
4. Statement regarding drafting philosophy (building for the future, contending now, etc.)
5. Toughest decision
6. Best move (trade, pick, etc.) / worst move
7. Your outlook for this coming season

It can be as substantial or as abbreviated as you want it to be.  These threads are open to all members, not just those posters who participated in the draft.  The more participation we get, the better.

Here is the team I have down for Philly:

PG: Ty Lawson, Isiah Thomas
SG: Arron Afflalo, Shannon Brown
SF: Jared Dudley, Evan Turner
PF: Brandon Bass, Al Harrington, Jason Thompson
C:  Nikola Pekovic, Marcus Camby

They may not have finished their final few picks but they have their top 11 guys in place.

Enough to give a proper evaluation.

I'm doing a press conference for Philly. They signed Nando De Colo and PJ Tucker.

The Philadelphia 76ers

**The 76ers acquire Nando De Colo and PJ Tucker from the waiver wire as a one-time pickup because their GM bailed on the draft and someone had to add two more guys**

PG: Ty Lawson, Isiah Thomas, Nando De Colo
SG: Arron Afflalo, Shannon Brown
SF:Jared Dudley, Evan Turner, PJ Tucker
PF: Brandon Bass, Al Harrington, Jason Thompson
C: Nikola Pekovic, Marcus Camby

Rotation: Player (mins at position)

PG: Ty Lawson (34), Isiah Thomas (14)
SG: Arron Affalo (33), Nando De Colo (15)
SF: Jared Dudley (33), Evan Turner (15)
PF: Brandon Bass (31), Al Harrington (17)
C: Nikola Pekovic (31), Marcus Camby (17)

Deep Bench: PJ Tucker, Jason Thompson, Shannon Brown

Starters Offensive Strategy: Ty Lawson initiates everything in the first unit, which he's more than capable of doing as maybe the most underrated point guard in the NBA today. He's an extremely craft and gifted playmaker and is very capable of getting just about anywhere he wants on the floor, whether in isolation or in a pick-and-roll setting.

This works well, because Lawson has two guys in the front line who are fantastic pick and roll players. Brandon Bass and particularly Nikola Pekovic are both extremely talented as the pick and roll man, and the offense will center around a drive-and-dish philosophy. Jared Dudley and Arron Affalo will wait on the wings for kick-outs while Lawson gets into the paint and makes the decisions.

Starters Defensive Strategy: Defensively the team is solid, but likely not strong, at least among its starters. Pekovic is a bruiser who will not shy away from a hard foul, but he's also just not that great a defender yet. Bass was underrated in Boston last season as a defender, but that's with what I like to call the 'KG Bump'. I think the defense though is a solid rebounding unit and tough all-around, especially on the perimeter, so I think they should at least be average.

Bench Guards: The gameplan is to play Lawson big minutes, but when he's out micro-wave extraordinaire 'Lil' Isiah Thomas comes in to start showing people that its not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the bite in the fog that matters here. And Thomas, well he'll be biting fog. Nando De Colo will be next to him on the perimeter. De Colo is a perfect fit next to Zeke Junior, because De Colo lacks the quickness to guard other point guards, and Thomas lacks the playmaking skills to be an effective floor general. They're like Tango and Cash up in here, and neither will likely see the floor without the other one out there too.

Bench Forwards: Jared Dudley is a glue guy, a good shooter, a tough defender, and a tough rebounder. A leader of men, and tweeter of jokes. But behind him is a versatile guy who showed both extreme promise and extreme ineptitude last season, and both had very startling results. Evan Turner should be able to run with the second unit, and should make them better both offensively with his smooth handle and passing skills, and defensively with his length and athleticism. Al Harrington is old hat at this by now and knows how to handle 20 minutes of prime time off the bench as well as anyone, and PJ Tucker will be a darkhorse for kicking ass and taking names.

Bench Centers: Marcus Camby heads up the defense on the second unit, and should keep them running hard and fast with his steady rebounding and help defense.

Conclusion: I think the first unit is a very well organized unit that fits together well and has well-defined and manageable roles that play to their strengths, and I think the second unit is full of matchup problems and versatile, multi-tooled players who can make a difference. This team might not bet a playoff team, but its not going to be the worst team in the East by any stretch either. Very similar to the actual Denver Nuggets.

The Celtics boast the best trio of Stars in the CelticsBlog Draft League. All three of Westbrook, Griffin, and Gasol were 2012 All-Stars. They are all in the top 5 at their respective positions and are only getting better.

Rounding out the Starting 5 are the Celtic's Wings. They bring an edge to the court and a physicality that helps set the tone for what kind of the game the opposition is in store for.

Philly:  You argued that there's not a big gap between Jared Dudley and Paul Pierce at this stage of their careers.  Can you justify that?

Boston:Can your team win if Blake Griffin continues to neglect defense and doesn't add a jump shot?  How big is the gap between Durant and Blake?

Alright here we go NYC!

Knicks rosters look a little something like this..

Guards- Calderon/Monta/Meeks/Brewer
Fowards- Durant/Leonard/BBD/Haslem/Maggette/Babbit
Centers- Jordan/Mozgov

Mintues breakdown/Starting lineup

Calderon(33)
Leonard (28)
Durant (36)
Davis (24)
Jordan (29)

Bench play
Monta (32)
Maggettee (14)
Haslem (14)
Brewer (10)
Mozgov (6)
Meeks (6)
Babbit (4)
Warrick (3)

Yes the way you see it there is we plan to use Monta off the bench. Helps our abilty for bench scoring and he and Corey can be hard hitter and push the lead coming off the bench.

The way we see the first unit (and well our team as a whole) is we go were KD goes. And we know what KD is and we know what he does. He is the best scorer in the league. We will run Calderon at the PG who is a great passer and good knock down shooter which he will be able to get thanks to help of Durant. We will rely on heavy pick and roll when the ball is both in Calderon and KD's hands because we have a nice screen and pop/role with our bigs. Glen davis has shown that he can finish strong and be able to knock down that 16 footer, while Mr. Jordan flys for ally opps and easy buckets around the rim.

Leonard is our glue guy plays lock down defense and comes down on offense and it productive. He knocks down the three he moves well without the ball and gets a lot of second chance points.

We are going to use Monta in a hybrid way Harden is used is OKC. We also would like him to be the kind of guy Russel Westbrook is. Guy who scores and still is able to get 6 or 7APG. Which he is very capable of doing. He is a high energy guy and is willing to come off the bench because there basically now fall off in minutes for him.

Other role players such Brewer Haslem Maggette Babbit and others will be played as matchups are made. We like these guys because they are tweeners. Brewer can play the 2 or the 3, Maggette can go down and guard bigger SG's play at home at SF or slide to the PF in small lineups. Haslem is Haslem dirty work guy gets you rebounds, takes the charge, knocks down the jumper, and have the heart of a champ. Babbit will be used in some spots as a stretch 4. He is a knock down shooter and will benifit from the passing abilities of Jose and Monta go to the rim.

Conclusion- We feel we have a very fast paced, scoring, and deep team. We know this team can be hounding on defense because of the quickness of them along with big baby taking charges and changing shots that way and Deandre being our shotblocker. Also we feel rebounding is one of our stronger suits. Which will be huge in getting stops and being able to get second chance points. We will go where Kevin Durant takes us and he is capable of taking a team to the promiseland.

Also would like to add something on Monta who is here with us today. We talked with Monta before we came out here today and told him the truth about shopping him around rumors are rumors but we want to be open with our players here in NYC and we told him the truth. He is well aware its a business and did not take is personal. He is excited to start working with KD and showing the world why he can be a winner. Thank you and we will open the floor to questions.

Would like to throw some vids since i am not very good at the pictures..

New York:  Any regrets about blowing up your original team, that was centered around Carmelo and Rubio?  I think the core was Perk/Ibaka/Carmelo/Lee/Rubio/Bargnani.  Do you like your current team better?

Honestly no. We feel we got better as a team. We also had a tough choice to make on moving melo and rubio. We felt like the strengths didn't suit eachother. So yes we love those guys thats why we had them but a chance to move certain guys and get the best scorer in the world. We were going to pass that up.

My question is how do you solve the Monta + Maggette problem? This was evident in Goldent State, the ball doesnt seem to have movement when the two of them play on the court?

Im not questioning their talent, but Monta is ball dominant and Maggette doesnt seem to know how to pass the ball?
