Doc is being classy but it reads pretty strangely, he basically contradicts himself:
"And not starting [games] bothered Ray. I did examine it, and the conclusion I came back to was this: By doing the right things, we may have lost Ray. If I hadn't done that, I would've been a hypocrite. In the opening speech I make every year, I tell the team: 'Every decision I make is going to be what's good for the team, and it may not be what's good for the individual.' "
So he takes the blame but for doing the right thing. I'm glad he said that because after reading the headline I was thinking "you did all the right things". Rondo is the best player, he should control the offense. Ray should be the 6th man. If he isn't going to buy into the "ubuntu" philosophy that's not your fault Doc.
Just taking the high road here. But what he ultimately says is "I take the blame, but I did the right thing and I wouldn't take any of it back."
