He's in his prime.

He's not gonna learn many new tricks.

He is what he is at this point.

Age wise he may be in his prime but that doesn't mean he really is in his prime. Last year was far and away his best year and he has just about improved his shooting every year from the floor and ft line.

How can you see those improvements (not to mention his defense ) and just dismiss the idea that he will improve?

Far and away his best year? Not really.

2010-2011
27 mpg  11.2 ppg .515Fg% 81.5Ft% 5.6rpg 0.8asts 0.7blks 0.4stls

2011-12
31 mpg 12.5 ppg .478Fg% 81.0ft% 6.5rpg 0.9asts 0.9blks 0.6stls

He had slighty better scoring and rebounding numbers to go with his career high in minutes. Bass didn't do anything he wasn't capable of doing the year before. His defense improved out of familiarity with the system and the emphasis placed on it by the team. Bass can and likely will have better seasons but he's going to do it through smarter play and a greater familiarity with the team/Doc's system. He's not adding any major folds to his game at this point, he's only going to improve(moderately) on what he does now.

Of course the answer is 'yes', he can improve.  Many players improve between 27 and 32 and he should be able to.  I think the biggest improvment in player at this stage of their careers is above the shoulders rather than below.

Guys who stay in the league can often take advantage of what they've learned and become more efficient/effective players.  I don't know Bass's intelligence but even a guy as impulsive (not dumb, impulsive) as Tony Allen seem to grow as players as they hit this stage if they can hang around long enough.  So, I expect Bass to be smarter on D and his positioning/spacing on offense and using his body on the boards.  I expect he'll become more confident in what he does well.  I doubt his shot will get better, or his handle, or his leaping ability, but being smarter by virtue of experience -- as long as he continues to work hard -- will allow for improvement.

I don't know if it will be an improvement on what he could do before as much as him knowing his role and a better understanding of what to do and when to do it... that just comes with being familiar with the team instead of being thrown out there. He got better as the season went on because he was grasping what needed to be done (mainly defensively)... I look for him to be even better (on D mostly) at the end of this upcoming season!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I don't see his offense getting much better, but I think his rebounding can improve.  I think it actually has to improve for him to get minutes or you'll see Green and Sullinger start to steal some.
do it
