The LAST thing this franchise needs is another Len Bias on its hands. If Green is not 99.999% healthy, the guy should NOT be playing basketball, plain and simple. And that goes for Wilcox too.
Speaking of which, Wilcox is signed correct?

This is why I don't buy this "rumor" (and I think that is even generous, given the source).

I think it is reasonable that insurance would be an issue.  Even if Green is deemed 100% by doctors, I imagine it would be tough to get someone who had open heart surgery insured.  And that would definitely complicate the fine print of a contract.

But, the C's were so careful with Green and Wilcox last year, that I find it hard to believe they would resign them, if they were not completely cleared by doctors.

Yes, presumably because there's a lot less risk in a one year contract at the minimum.

exactly.  My guess is the C's had no issue with signing him without insurance.

This has taken too much time, could there be health concerns ? We could not possibly know, but i'm getting worried it's the heart again.

According to David Falk, it has to do with specific contract language.

My random, ill-informed, total guess?  The language allows some part of the deal to be non-guaranteed if Green has further heart issues, and the sides are trying to determine exactly what falls under a "heart issue".

That could be totally off-base, and you almost never see deals like that in the NBA.  However, I've seen negotiations like that in baseball a few times, and it wouldn't surprise me if that's what's happening here.

Yes, Lackey's contract has something like it in there and ironically that's probably going to kick in, giving the Red Sox one more year of him at a very cheap rate.  Whether that is a good thing is, of course, debatable.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

All these conspiracy theories are ridiculous. He's coming off of heart surgery and being monitroed constantly. How could a new heart/health issue go undetected until he's ready to sign a new deal?

Seriously people. Use common sense.

Thank you.... There's a chance that it could be correct but to freak out over an unnamed source on realGM is ridiculous

to add, a poster on RealGM made a very good point about this guy...

"While your story seems legit the issue I have believing you I that you say you gave out that ray Allen was joining the heat several days before it was announced. Well Allen announced he was joining the heat July 6th and your join date is July 8th. Unless the mods have a way to verify insider info I am not going to believe what a unknown poster states."

Wanna know another good point.  It did not take much to predict Ray going to the Heat.  They were pursuing him hard, and it was well known he was unhappy with the C's for months.  That is not a prediction for anyone to hang their hat on.

the RA issue was 50-50. He was either going to Miami or staying in Boston. So whoever predicted this and a one in 2 chance. That is not the type of prediction that all of a sudden makes you an insider.

AND THE KICKER

Insiders do not reveal their sources. Very unlikely a real insider would put out the name of Tyrone Lue.

While it would not shock me if his heart issue is still an issue on some level, I take this to be a completely made up rumor.

I work for a decent size health insurance brokerage. We have several clients that are required to carry insurance as part of their performance contracts and I am willing to bet this has everything to do with this contract. Even for larger celebrities providing appropriate health insurance for them for the contracts can take several months to obtain quotes. Coming off heart surgery makes it extremely difficult to obtain insurance but I am sure it is a requirement. Insurance has to be this issue IMHO.
