  • Cool b/c i liked Rondo when he was behind Telfair
So Jeff Green is coming back to the celtics for 4 yrs/36mill. What do you think the long term expectations are for Green because clearly they want him to be their sf of the future. stats? peak?
Odds that i can dunk?

Jeff is a star

BUT he is very very very unlucky

playing behind not 1, not 2 , but 3 chuckers in OKC...

he comes he and has to play with 4 HOF

The guy is good but he hasnt had a chance, not only to play but to also get an opportunity to be a 1 or 2 guy

Well with Pierce not getting any younger he will eventually transition into our main sf. I think about it often, but i just cant figure out how good he could be. Could he be a leader of the team with rondo? i just cant wait for the season
Odds that i can dunk?

I know this is basically pure evil in me saying this, but I'm not sure Pierce is going to be the same Pierce we are used to seeing. I think that Green will end up starting about halfway through the season. His skill set compliments Rondo much much better and the second unit needs a good ball handler (Pierce). As for stats, I think that he can probably put up close to 18ppg, 5rebs, and MAYBE 3asts.

Either way, I'll be happy just seeing my Celtics play.

First, Pierce is not a good ball handler.

Your thought about Pierce being ousted from the lineup midway has a .000004 chance of happening.

When Rondo was out, he produced a triple double, and near triple doubles, the man can distribute and run an offense. I'd take him as a ball handler over Dooling and a switch off between he and Terry would be solid while Rondo takes his 10 minutes in-game. The Green--Rondo connection has so much potential is all I'm saying.

He is what he is.

How many straight season of level play from him do we need to see to understand that is what he is in the NBA?

i didnt say he was a decent decision maker, hes a solid decision maker in passing and he finds open people when hes not being harrassed.

but hes not very good at ball handling and once he gets to "iso" he loses the ball or throws it away.

I need to see him play a full healthy season with this group of guys first.

I agree, because of his past situation he was not able to show off his skills.  Also I remember reading an article sometime after his surgery where he made a quote about life being short and him being more selfish as a player.  Most players that would be a red flag, but for him that would be good thing.

Green won't take over midseason...at least not this year. As Pierce ages more and loses his legs he will transition into a bench role, like all other players.

One uninterrupted season with the Celtics, complete with training camp, is what he needs. Not an abbreviated season after a trade deadline. Not playing out of position as the fourth option behind Durant/WB/Beard.

We'll have a measure of what Jeff Green is, by the time that 2012-013 is a wrap.

Jeff will exceed expectations this year. In the future this contract will look like a bargain.

He won't necessarily reach his potential, but I could see him being a guy who could shot 38-40% from three, playing above-average defense, and being as capable as Paul Pierce in functioning as a point forward and running the offense when Rondo sits.  He won't ever be a go-to scorer like Pierce, though.
