Seems like the consensus. But we're not talking perennial all star appearances.

Mo Williams made it once.

Also remember, starters are voted in by fans. Reserves by coaches.

They need one good stretch of games for that to happen and I see a decent chance (note I did not say a big one) of any of them being voted in. They're all potentially very good players.

Also, I agree with the Fab Melo comment. And I hope he does kill the buzz of all the detractors.

And by that same token, Drazen Petrovic never made an All-Star team.  Nor has Eric Gordon, Derek Harper, Byron Scott, Lamar Odom, Marcus Camby, or Mike Bibby.

I'd be fine with our three guys approaching their quality of play during their primes.

Which is why I chose the word "likely" and not "definitely".  It is possible that Avery makes one, like Mo Williams or Jameer.  That doesn't make it likely.

Green I feel like only has a very small chance, he's already been a 30+ MPG starter for a team that featured him prominantly. If he was capable of being an all-star at the F position I feel like he'd have at least shown us flashes of it.

 

By prominently do you mean let him start out of position and be the 3rd/4th option on offense?

He was out of position, but he never showed the sort of offensive agression necessary to be an all-star caliber scoring threat. Meanwhile his rebounding and defense at both the SF/PF position aren't difference making (well they are but in a bad way at PF). So if he's not an aggressive offensive option, a defensive ace, or a possession creator how is he supposed to be an all-star?

Actually, for those who consider Jeff Green a scrub who could never be an all star, lets compare his stats to Kevin Love.

First the shooting stats:

Now Kevin Love was an All-Star last season, and I can guarantee you he'll be a shoe in for it next season too. Taking a look at the numbers above, other then the obvious (rebounding and getting to the line) what does Love do better then Green?

* Green has a slightly better Net Rating

* Assist and turnover ratios are for all intents and purposes identical.

* Green is 13 percentage points better on corner threes, Love is 13 percentage points better on above break threes, so that's a wash. 

* From midrange Green is superior.

* In the paint (overall, inside + outside the restricted area combined) Green is far superior.

Consider that Love averaged 26 PPG, and he averaged 3.5 extra free thows made per 36 minute then Green did - that's obviously equates to 3.5 PPG from those extra FT attempts.

Now if you discount the 3.5 PPG discrepancy from FT attempts, Green otherwise is clearly every bit as capable a scorer as Love is.  Based on all these numbers there is no reason why Green couldn't average around ~22PPG if he were the #1 scorering option on an average team.

Kevin Love is an all-star caliber player because of his possession creation. Additionally his offensive approach of getting to the line via rebounding and shooting 3s as a PF is very valuable . His offense took a step back this past year as he took more midrange shots, worse shot selection as he tried to shoulder a larger load.

Jeff Green doesn't offer that possession creation and the relentless pressure it puts on opposing big men to rebound. Offensively Jeff Green might be able to match Love's production, but in doing so at the SF position he provides much less value. (stretch 3s don't bother defenses as much as stretch 4s)

Sullinger as he is the only guy capable of ever hitting at least #2 status on a team.

None. Melo has a better chance at the center position, as far-fetched as that seems, especially if DH ends up at Dallas next year as a FA.

AB just because of all the guys, he's the only one who has played at a high level in NBA (even if it's for a short time.)

For clarity - Jeff Green has played at a role player level for a long time, but not at a high level. AB was fantastic for a very short stretch.
