I mean I hope their hearts hold up. I mean if the Celtics fifteen players hearts are in normal working condition we got a great shot at a ring.

I mean how crazy is that? If Jeff Green doesn't have a season ending Heart condition we probably win it all. And Wilcox doesn't guarantee anything, but it wouldn't have hurt to have another big that's for sure.

So lets hope are players play with Hearts this year. Literally.

Heart pun intended? TP anyway.

I think JG is the true question mark here. I think in the stretch before he went down Wilcox proved that he has a place here and that he is very effective in that place.

JG has the most to prove. Danny has put him in the position where he has everything he needs and the only thing he has to worry about is showing the world what he can do.

It's time for Jeff Green to show his worth in his fullest potential this year by replacing Kendrick Perkins!

Not sure the "play with heart" throw-in comment was needed. Some people on these forums (myself included) have lost loved ones from heart attacks or complications. Not as cute and pun-ny to everyone.

The heart issue is interesting, and not really much said to this point about either of their conditions.

So we are left to assume that both players are healthy enough to play NBA basketball for 30 or more minutes a game.  Of course Wicox is unlikely to play that many minutes, but the point is they are cleared to play a game that requires the highest level of heart health possible (my layperson's guess).

Despite my cynnicism about doctors' capacity to know for sure, I am sure that the C's (and Green/Wilcox) would not be taking any chances if there were any known above normal risk.  That said, I would suspect that any 'normal' person would have to get past the psychological challenges of having had open heart surgery and then competing physically day after day at the highest level.

I am not suggesting that either or both will be unable to cope, but it would be pretty surprising if neither of them have some period of mental adjustment -- even as they experiece typical wear and tear symptoms that now will have them thinking a little differently.

False, it has been said green is 100percent healthy cleared and ready to go. Doctors have also cleared wilcox i don't think we need to worry too much about them at this point.

Green and Wilcox will definitely need to both be solid, consistent contributors for our team to truly have a chance to win it all next season.

Agree . While their is no ring withoit green , wilcox proved to be a great big man of the bench and for a stretch he was our best player on the team ( the most consistent anyway ) so BOTH of them are extremely important for next year .

Making puns about guys who had major heart surgery?  Congrats for having no class.

Maybe I didn't express my point well.  I am not saying these guys haven't been cleared to play and that this hasn't been stated.  Of course they would't play if not cleared to play.  But 'cleared to play' is not much detail and if you view doctors' conclusion with even the mildest skepticism, you might have a tinge of concern.
If I were Green or Wilcox I think I would be impacted psychologically -- but perhaps they aren't.  My only real point is that just because they are cleared by doctors to play doesn't mean there won't be physical issues and doesn't mean their won't be psychological issues. In fact, I'd be pretty surprised, given what we know about psychological adjustments to knee surgery, if there weren't psychological adjustments stemming from heart surgery.

I firmly believe both will play with a lot of heart, energy, passion, and emotion. I believe it to the bottom of my Boston Celtics heart......

And we will love the results in June 2013.
The beatings will continue until morale improves
