Haha I agree.  I was going to say something else but what you said was better. TP

And Paul Pierce had to show he could still knife through the lane and stick the dagger in his opponent in crunch time the season after he recovered from his stabbing attack.

Ha Ha.

Without the dagger comment I was with you...with the dagger you went to far.

I stand by my statement and others who think the general theme of 'humor' in this thread is utterly tasteless and without class.  Also, if you read the entire thread there are many more than just two of us who agree.

How about this scenario?  If you actually had the opportunity to meet Jeff Green or Wilcox in person, say at a community event in Boston, would you EVER make this 'joke' to their face?  Of course not.  And if you did they would turn their backs on you and walk away showing much more class than you.

The internet may allow for anonymous free speech, but it doesn't mean much of it is in good taste or intelligent.

Well put.  If those who think this thread is in poor taste are being "overly sensitive", I would suggest those who think it is so hilarious to tweet the title of this thread to Chris Wilcox to see what his reponse is.  Tell him that he and Jeff Green need to play with heart.  Follow it with an lol.  See if Chris Wilcox finds it so funny or see if he is "overly sensitive".

And really, the pun isn't even funny to begin with.

And I understand how/why people would think the comments are not funny or thinking it is in bad taste.

I understand how you could come to that conclusion.  The disconnect here is...how you don't see the other side of it.

Humor is subjective, you can tell me what YOU think is not funny, but that does not mean because you do...I have to agree with it.

Humor is subjective.  I agree.  If you find it funny, then great.

But if you find it to be in good taste, would you say it to Jeff Green's face?  Chris Wilcox's face?  Would they find it funny?

While I understand the basis of your stance, I feel that this humor from the opening post can rub some people the wrong way and thus can be interpreted as hurtful or tasteless to some. While I would agree with what you said in most cases, I feel that Green and Wilcox's heart problems shed a different light on "humor" because of how non-trivial their problems over the past year have been.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not sure that a general discussion board is a great place to put this type of humor for all to see.

We are not talking about whether this humor can be funny to some - I know it can be - but rather whether this general board for all to see is a rather appropriate, fitting place for it to be seen.

In this case, we can agree to disagree. Where is the consideration in this?

Humor is subjective.  I agree.  If you find it funny, then great.

But if you find it to be in good taste, would you say it to Jeff Green's face?  Chris Wilcox's face?  Would they find it funny?

I do not find it in good taste we agree on that.  But I don't equate what is funny and what is in good taste to go hand and hand.

Do I find some of of these comments funny yes I do.  Do I agree with you that some are in bad taste of course.  Would I personally say it to the person's face no...

But with all that said it doesn't make it less funny to me.

For example...I am sure you have heard a woman or priest joke in your lifetime that has made you laugh.  You know certain women or priests may find it offensive or in bad taste (because it probably is)

I am assuming here...that you, (like me) wouldn't go out of your way to repeat it in front of someone knowing it may offend.   But like I said that doesn't make it less funny...or not funny at all.

  • KG IS THE KING

I mean I hope their hearts hold up. I mean if the Celtics fifteen players hearts are in normal working condition we got a great shot at a ring.

I mean how crazy is that? If Jeff Green doesn't have a season ending Heart condition we probably win it all. And Wilcox doesn't guarantee anything, but it wouldn't have hurt to have another big that's for sure.

So lets hope are players play with Hearts this year. Literally.
Haha, I saw what you did there with that title  ;)

I think Jeff will be playing with a chip on his shoulder, everyone in the league has forgotten about him and he'll be out to prove that he's still capable of being a decent player. Not an all-star level player, but a dependable starter. Go get em Jeff.

I would have zero problem saying it to them. Most of the time it is not what you say but how you say it.

I don't think the OP was trying to be rude in anyway and if he was o'well I really don't care. He has that right, last time I checked we stall had free speech in this country.

I bet most of us wouldn't make a Lebron choking joke/pun to his face either, but that doesn't make them not funny.

When a chronically injured player is drafted in a fantasy baseball league and I make my typical "Hope Dr. James Andrews is available for you in the next round!" joke, I wouldn't want that player to see it, but I still think its funny.

I found this pun pretty funny.  I can see how the sensitive types could find it tasteless.  But like you said celtsfan, humor is subjective.  Nobody should really be criticizing others for what they find funny and not funny.  (Except me, because I'm the only person who has the best sense of what is and isn't funny)
