Am I the only one thinking that the Wolves will retire KG's number (21)? If this happens, do the Celtics retire his number too?

Been thinking about this for quite some time now.

I think that the C's will or will not retire KG's number regardless of what the Wolves do.

Yes,

A few guys in NBA history have had their numbers retired by more than one team.  KG would be deserving in both cities.

I say it depends on what happens these next 3 years.  If we reach another NBA Finals, I say he is definitely in the rafters.  If the best we do is the ECF, it is a debate.  If we don't get any further, it is not happening.

I'd be surprised if his number was retired in Minnesota and I'd be surprised if it wasn't retired in Boston.

Doesn't seem like he is very fond of his time in Minnesota and didn't leave on the greatest terms. If he plays 3 more years in Boston that's what 8 or so years where he didn't play in Minnesota? Thats a pretty good chunk of time. If he retired this year than clearly the majority of his time would be with Sota but with this new extension I think it would be 50/50 as what his career is linked to.

I think he will be retired in Boston for what he brought to the city and what he represents. He is a true celtic through and through and has embodied everything it means to be a Celtic throughout history. I think especially by the time his career really winds down in a couple years it will be even clearer that his number will be retired here.

Mostly seconded, except for my small amendment  :)

I think he has a chance, irrespective of how the team does over the next few years.

Does Garnett have the chance to surpass some important career milestones as a member of the Celtics?

;D He didn't want to leave Minnesota @ first. The fans love him there & he basically carried the organization for years singlehandedly. The T-Wolves will definitely retire his number & the C's will retire it as well.

Good question...they will no doubt retire Paul Pierce. And i say they will KG also. Celtics going to run out of numbers pretty soon lol. Have to use letters!!

I'd retire his number in Boston even if he retired today—he's done that much for the franchise.

I can also see why Minnesota would retire his 21—he's by far the best player in the team's history, and the only "great" they've ever had.

I think they have a few too many retired numbers actually. I'd take them all down except for (maybe) 6, 14, 17 and 33.

Im pretty sure you are joking, but if not, did you purposely leave out Havlicek's 17?  I mean he is regarded as an NBA top 15 player for all time.

Well he asked to be traded and since the owner has bad mouthed KG and just last year KG bad mouther their entire organization minus the fans.

Each franchise is different. Miami retired Jordan's number so who knows.
