We could but due to the fact that we signed him for the veteran's minimum that doesn't benefit him much at all.

He's said he'll go overseas instead of playing for a salary that low.

I love Pietrus.  But it's a terrible situation for him here.  We're two deep at the 2 and the 3.  He'd be the 11th or 12th man here.  That'd be awesome for us, but not very good for a guy who'd be coming here for small money with little hope of playing his way into a bigger deal next year.

And I think I'd rather hold onto the BAE and use it to address whatever issues up up during the season when buy-outs start to occur.  And we won't know those specific weaknesses until we've seen how this team functions and who gets hurt.

Saying we're deep at the 3 is a bit overstated. Jeff Green missed all of last year and is arguably better suited to the 4 in today's NBA. That's our only depth with experience.

That said, the Cs won't give Pietrus the BAE if they're smart. If his offer overseas is so attractive, he should take it, then come back in a few seasons when he's.... well.... ready to take the vet min as the defender / low %  spot-up shooter that he is.
Unless Green grows 2 inches and his arms grow 2 inchs, he gains 30 pounds, and learns to play in the post, he is absolutely better as a 3.  He has never been any good at the 4, but was simply forced to play there his entire career due to Durant and then Pierce.

two issues with MP i saw last year.

1. After his nasty concussion he rarely ever played under the basket. No tip in, no rebounds, nothing

2. I saw kg several times try to get MP interested in huddles . One time he grabbed his jersey to come into one. Lack of team spirit or not caring what the coach had to say??

thanks mp , and good luck
1.  All I can remember of him is his miracle rebounds where he came out of no where against the Heat in the playoffs.  Not sure what you're talking about.

2.  LOL really?  Pietrus was one of the most enthusiastic team players on the team.  He was directly responsible for what Doc said was the best lockerroom he's ever been in.

Jeff Green is more versatile and bigger. Question is how fast Christmas or Joseph can fill in at SF when doc needs a smaller quicker lineup if we need Lee at SG.

Those who say JG can't play PF have not been paying attention. Lebron, Rashard Lewis, Odom, SJackson, even KD all play minutes at the 4. The stretch 4 has become the latest fad in the NBA. This is something we did not have last year and is why Bass ended up guarding Lebron.

AbEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ely, and you could argue that Jeff Green is as good (or better) inside as any one of those guys bar maybe Odom, and he's sure as hell a lot stronger then either KD or Rashard Lewis...

Actually Green's inside scoring percentages in 2011 were very high, from memmory up around the mid-to-high 60's which I think was actually better then any other player in a Boston uniform (KG included).  He may not have the worlds greatest post moves, but the kid can score around the basket.

Hell what's to say Jeff couldn't be just as effecive at the 4 as Bass is? He's longer and more athletic then Bass, plus have you actually seen Bass' post game?  He doesn't have one!

Which I might add was an epic fail and borderline embarassment.
