It makes sense. As much as I'd prefer that they bring back Dooling, for all we know the guard core is completely healthy all season and we get hammered with the injury bug in the frontcourt.
I think my best case scenario would be to resign Dooling at vet min, hang onto Xmas and Joseph to fill out the roster, then wait for a buyout guy, outbid other teams with the BAE, and cut the lesser of Xmas/Joseph.

Pierce/Green/Joseph

Sullinger/Wilcox/Collins/Melo
Positions and depth are fluid but that's a roster I can roll with, especially with the BAE still in our back pocket.
In fact, the reason we haven't heard much about Dooling may be because we're offering the minimum and he's pushing for the BAE. Would seem to make sense.
