When someone mentioned how Dionte Christmas dropped 41 points (4/5 for 2, 8/15 for 3, 9/11 FT) on eventual European champions Olympiacos, I remember thinking how Greek arenas are one of the toughest places in the world to play basketball. Could something like this happen in an NBA game? Even the old Boston Garden... was it something like this?

thats nuts.  and no, that could never happen.  the fires and throwing things on the court alone would never happen. definitely cool to watch tho

I dont think those people even go to watch a Basketball game.  The game itself was meaningless

I don't think that can happen in the NBA. League is too strict with whatever goes inside the playing court.

What I do want to see though, is college hoop style crowd. I mean when I watch some college games, those student section get rowdy and entertaining to watch. I sometimes just watch a Duke game because of the Crazies. They are fun to watch and really intimidating for away teams.

It all depends on the fans and how crazy, yet inbounds they can get.

Nope.  The old Garden was nothing like that.  It was smoky from cigarettes though.

It did get loud there but only when the team was playing well or needed a ralley.  No endless songs.
Yup

Don't think that can happen here huh?  You mean since teams can't have professionals setting up fireworks you think they'd frown on audience members popping and holding burning flares?  I'm sure Stern would totally be down with that.

Americans are not as rabid as sports fans in europe, south america, or africa. People live and die sports on those continents. Perhaps because in the case of africa there is very little left to do for entertainment.

Some of the crap officiating that we get in the NBA will be met with serious consequences for the referees in some foreign countries.
