It would have to be something involving green and a few draft picks. I'd trade bass, Bradley, filler and a first round pick for smith in a heartbeat
Or it could mean jeff green was a free agent and josh wasn't.

Jeff Green will prove to be a better overall player than smith. Plus his contract is much more cap friendly. Josh smith is not worth 13mil to the Celtics or any other team otherwise a trade would have already happened...
Jeff Green is 7 months younger than Josh Smith and has never even come close to a season like Josh Smith's last SIX years in Atlanta.  I like Jeff Green, but he doesn't hold a candle to Josh Smith and that was before he missed an entire season with a heart defect.

Then why hasnt any team in the NBA made a move for him? Atlanta had been shopping him last year. They made it known that he was available. hes not worth it.

Good point.  My best guess is that everyone is turned off by JSmith frequent impersonations of Antoine Walker - especially late in the game - and shoot your team out of the game.

JSmith is so unrelaiable for the money he is paid....

As much as I love Smooth, it is interesting no real rumors of trading him surfaced other than way out in left field stories. I guess that does say something, great point!
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Now that Howard is a Faker.

Iguodala no longer available.

CP3 nothing but a pipedream.

Atlanta has capspace that is useless, nobody except Lebron,Bosh,Wade,Boozer became free agents.

Everyone is getting traded or re-signed to bigass contracts. I say we need to go after Smith. We needed him prior the Howard trade, to make sure we beat the Heat and even more now.

The Only problem is,we're not getting him without sending out at least 12 million in salaries. And picks. I hope Bass, Lee and filler is enough. Plus the Nets 2nd in 13-14 plus our first next year.

If Bradley returns healthy, we have him,Rondo,Terry and Dooling.

I think we look carefully at who between Lee and Bradley plays better the first half of the year, and then we trade the worse one, with Bass, and filler/picks for Smith.

Example:

Bass, Lee/Bradley, Melo, 2nd round pick
for
Smith

If Ainge is going to push that many chips to the center of the table, it better be for a better player.

Bradley only makes 1.6 million, with Bass that might be just over 8 million.

Filler Should be either Christmas or Wilcox, we need to keep Melo.

You're right about Bradley, my bad.

We're a win now team. We aren't giving up Wilcox over Melo

lakers will probably pick him up for scraps.  It's a good way to ensure Dwight will stick around (they are buddies).  Forget about it.

Smith and Rondo are also buddies... they went to the same high school and played together.

The best free agents next year are Howard, CP3, Bynum, Smith, Jefferson, and Kaman.

Bass, Lee, Sullinger and a 2013 1st sounds fair for Smith at the deadline.  Salaries are close and I think Smith would want to stay with Rondo.

Unless we think 6ers will implode in 1st half and we can try to get Bynum at the deadline, even though they are in same division, I say go after Smith.

exactly. They were hanging out in Lowell, MA recently too. I think we have the inside track on Smith.

this josh smith obsession is getting tiring. He is not worth trading half our team for. I dont care if hes friends with rondo.

Ok.  Not half the team.  But Bass (or Green) + Sullinger+ Lee and a pick, that's like a 4th or a 5th of the team.

If you don't think so, what is your proposal for our rebounding situation?

If we are playing Lakers in Finals, DH 12 and Gasol will kill us on the boards as it stands now, unless Fab Melo and Sullinger step up quickly.

Smith or Bynum for me, but I'm not just not sure how cheap we can get them.  Will have to wait to see how the season goes for 6ers and Hawks.

Bynum, Varejao or Smith seem like the 3 guys I would target.  Smith and Varejao are probably the only realistic of the 3.

I've said it all summer, and I'll say it until the day Danny rectifies the situation; Bass is not good enough to be the starting PF.  We need an upgrade.

We have trade chips, we need to use them.
